2015 American Thyroid Association Management Guidelines for Adult Patients with Thyroid Nodules and Differentiated Thyroid Cancer: The American Thyroid Association Guidelines Task Force on Thyroid Nodules and Differentiated Thyroid Cancer.

TLDR
Evidence-based recommendations are developed to inform clinical decision-making in the management of thyroid nodules and differentiated thyroid cancer and represent, in the authors' opinion, contemporary optimal care for patients with these disorders.
Abstract
Background: Thyroid nodules are a common clinical problem, and differentiated thyroid cancer is becoming increasingly prevalent. Since the American Thyroid Association's (ATA's) guidelines for the management of these disorders were revised in 2009, significant scientific advances have occurred in the field. The aim of these guidelines is to inform clinicians, patients, researchers, and health policy makers on published evidence relating to the diagnosis and management of thyroid nodules and differentiated thyroid cancer. Methods: The specific clinical questions addressed in these guidelines were based on prior versions of the guidelines, stakeholder input, and input of task force members. Task force panel members were educated on knowledge synthesis methods, including electronic database searching, review and selection of relevant citations, and critical appraisal of selected studies. Published English language articles on adults were eligible for inclusion. The American College of Physicians Guideline Gr...

TL;DR: The GLOBOCAN 2020 estimates of cancer incidence and mortality produced by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) as mentioned in this paper show that female breast cancer has surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, with an estimated 2.3 million new cases (11.7%), followed by lung cancer, colorectal (11 4.4%), liver (8.3%), stomach (7.7%) and female breast (6.9%), and cervical cancer (5.6%) cancers.

The diagnostic value for differentiated thyroid carcinoma metastases of thyroglobulin (Tg) measurement in washout fluid from fine-needle aspiration biopsy of neck lymph nodes is maintained in the presence of circulating anti-tg antibodies

TL;DR: Clinical performance of Tg-FNAB appears to be not substantially affected by TgAb, and this procedure remains superior to cytology in the identification of DTC neck metastases, however, cytology should always be performed because Tg is undetectable in FNAB from undifferentiated metastases.

Clinical Impact of 18 F-FDG PET in Thyroid Carcinoma Patients with Elevated Thyroglobulin Levels and Negative 131 I Scanning Results After Therapy

TL;DR: FDG PET is able to detect metastases undetected by (131)I posttherapy whole-body scanning in patients with elevated Tg levels, and should be proposed as a first-line investigation in Patients with persistent disease but negative findings on whole- body scans after treatment.

Bone Metastases from Thyroid Carcinoma: Clinical Characteristics and Prognostic Variables in One Hundred Forty-Six Patients

TL;DR: In a subgroup of patients in which histologic specimens were available and were reviewed, Hurthle cell carcinoma was the most favorable histologic subtype for survival with the undifferentiated subtype being the worst.
