2015 American Thyroid Association Management Guidelines for Adult Patients with Thyroid Nodules and Differentiated Thyroid Cancer: The American Thyroid Association Guidelines Task Force on Thyroid Nodules and Differentiated Thyroid Cancer.

TLDR
Evidence-based recommendations are developed to inform clinical decision-making in the management of thyroid nodules and differentiated thyroid cancer and represent, in the authors' opinion, contemporary optimal care for patients with these disorders.
Abstract
Background: Thyroid nodules are a common clinical problem, and differentiated thyroid cancer is becoming increasingly prevalent. Since the American Thyroid Association's (ATA's) guidelines for the management of these disorders were revised in 2009, significant scientific advances have occurred in the field. The aim of these guidelines is to inform clinicians, patients, researchers, and health policy makers on published evidence relating to the diagnosis and management of thyroid nodules and differentiated thyroid cancer. Methods: The specific clinical questions addressed in these guidelines were based on prior versions of the guidelines, stakeholder input, and input of task force members. Task force panel members were educated on knowledge synthesis methods, including electronic database searching, review and selection of relevant citations, and critical appraisal of selected studies. Published English language articles on adults were eligible for inclusion. The American College of Physicians Guideline Gr...

Global Cancer Statistics 2020: GLOBOCAN Estimates of Incidence and Mortality Worldwide for 36 Cancers in 185 Countries.

TL;DR: The GLOBOCAN 2020 estimates of cancer incidence and mortality produced by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) as mentioned in this paper show that female breast cancer has surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, with an estimated 2.3 million new cases (11.7%), followed by lung cancer, colorectal (11 4.4%), liver (8.3%), stomach (7.7%) and female breast (6.9%), and cervical cancer (5.6%) cancers.

Clinical Relevance of Single-Photon Emission Computed Tomography/Computed Tomography of the Neck and Thorax in Postablation 131I Scintigraphy for Thyroid Cancer

TL;DR: This study demonstrates the complementary role of neck and thorax SPECT-CT to WBS in postablation (131)I scintigraphy and recommends its use when available.

Preoperative evaluation of thyroid nodules with 18FDG-PET/CT

TL;DR: F Fluorine-18-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography ((18)FDG-PET/CT) provides a high negative predictive value for malignancy, making this a potentially useful tool in the evaluation of thyroid nodules with indeterminate fine-needle aspiration.

Value of the first serum thyroglobulin level after total thyroidectomy for the diagnosis of metastases from differentiated thyroid carcinoma

TL;DR: It is concluded that the first Tg measurement after total thyroidectomy provides a useful early diagnostic indication of metastatic disease in spite of the presence of a post-surgical thyroid remnant, and that this holds true regardless of the TSH value and WBS result.

Papillary thyroid carcinoma nodal surgery directed by a preoperative radiographic map utilizing CT scan and ultrasound in all primary and reoperative patients.

TL;DR: To study the diagnostic accuracy of physical examination, ultrasonography, contrastenhanced computed tomography, and in preoperative detection of macroscopic nodal metastasis in primary/recurrent papillary thyroid carcinoma patients to determine if the routine addition of CT would be beneficial in accurate preoperative lymph‐node surgery planning.
