A Temporally Based Framework and Taxonomy of Team Processes

TLDR
This article defines team process in the context of a multiphase episodic framework related to goal accomplishment, arguing that teams are multitasking units that perform multiple processes simultaneously and sequentially to orchestrate goal-directed taskwork.
Abstract
In this article we examine the meaning of team process. We first define team process in the context of a multiphase episodic framework related to goal accomplishment, arguing that teams are multitasking units that perform multiple processes simultaneously and sequentially to orchestrate goal-directed taskwork. We then advance a taxonomy of team process dimensions synthesized from previous research and theorizing. a taxonomy that reflects our time-based conceptual framework. We conclude with implications for future research and application.

Advancing Multilevel Research Design Capturing the Dynamics of Emergence

TL;DR: It is argued that direct quantitative approaches, largely represented by computational modeling or agent-based simulation, have much to offer with respect to illuminating the mechanisms of emergence as a dynamic process, and illustrated how indirect and direct approaches can be complementary and, appropriately integrated, have the potential to substantially advance theory and research.

The Moderating Role of Top Management Team Interdependence: Implications for Real Teams and Working Groups

TL;DR: In this article, the authors show that within-team interdependence moderates the process-performance relationship in small groups, using data collected from 94 top management teams (TMTs) replicated and exte...

The Effects of Conflict Types, Dimensions, and Emergent States on Group Outcomes

TL;DR: This paper examined three types of conflict (task, relationship, and process) and four dimensions of conflict in decision making groups and investigated emergent states (e.g., trust, respect, cohesiveness) as mediating the effects of the conflict types and dimensions on group outcomes.

Measuring teamwork in health care settings: a review of survey instruments.

TL;DR: Researchers aiming to advance research on teamwork in health care should consider using or adapting one of these instruments before creating a new one, because instruments vary considerably in the behavioral processes and emergent states of teamwork that they capture.

System Breakdown: The Role of Mental Models and Transactive Memory in the Relationship between Acute Stress and Team Performance

TL;DR: In this article, the mediational role of mental models and transactive memory in the relationship between acute stress and team performance was examined in an effort to extend theory and research on the effects of acute stress in teams.
