- Vol. 139, Iss: 10, pp 1439-1451
TLDR
In this paper , the authors evaluated the relative effectiveness of the mRNA BNT162b2 vaccine in patients with hematological neoplasms compared with matched controls, and found that vaccinated patients had an increased risk of documented COVID-19 infection by polymerase chain reaction; symptomatic infection; hospitalizations; severe COVID19 disease; and COVID -19-related death.

Efficacy of booster doses in augmenting waning immune responses to COVID-19 vaccine in patients with cancer

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors showed the significant impact of COVID-19 infection among patients with a cancer diagnosis, with increased morbidity and mortality with advanced age, co-morbidities, and hematologic malignancies receiving highly immunosuppressive therapies.
Journal ArticleDOI

Efficacy of booster doses in augmenting waning immune responses to COVID-19 vaccine in patients with cancer

TL;DR: In this article, the anti-COVID-19 immunity dynamics were assessed in patients with cancer in a prospective clinical trial, and the authors detected the waning of immunity 4-6 months post-vaccination with significant increases in anti-spike IgG titers after booster dosing and 56% of seronegative patients seroconverted post-booster vaccination.

CD20-Targeted Therapy Ablates De Novo Antibody Response to Vaccination but Spares Preestablished Immunity

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors assessed blocking antibodies, total anti-spike IgG, and spike-specific memory B cells in the peripheral blood of 126 patients with lymphoma and 20 age-matched healthy controls 1 and 4 months after COVID-19 vaccination.
Journal ArticleDOI

Breakthrough COVID-19 in vaccinated patients with hematologic malignancies: results from the EPICOVIDEHA survey

TL;DR: While mortality is significantly lower than in the pre-vaccination era, breakthrough COVID-19 in HM is still associated with considerable mortality.

SARS-CoV-2 in immunocompromised individuals

TL;DR: Melms et al. as discussed by the authors presented what is known about distinct states of immunologic vulnerability to SARS-CoV-2 and how this information can be harnessed to improve prevention and treatment strategies for immunologically high-risk populations.

Clinical impact of COVID-19 on patients with cancer (CCC19): a cohort study.

Nicole M. Kuderer, +239 more
- 20 Jun 2020 -
TL;DR: The outcomes of a cohort of patients with cancer and COVID-19 are characterised and potential prognostic factors for mortality and severe illness are identified and race and ethnicity, obesity status, cancer type, type of anticancer therapy, and recent surgery were not associated with mortality.

Efficacy of the BNT162b2 mRNA COVID-19 Vaccine in Patients with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors evaluated humoral immune responses to the BNT162b2 mRNA COVID-19 vaccine in patients with CLL and compared responses with those obtained in age-matched healthy control subjects.

Safety and immunogenicity of one versus two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine BNT162b2 for patients with cancer: interim analysis of a prospective observational study.

TL;DR: In this paper, the safety and immunogenicity of the BNT162b2 (Pfizer-BioNTech) vaccine in patients with cancer was evaluated using data from three London hospitals between Dec 8, 2020 and Feb 18, 2021.
