The first observation of stochastic resonance in an optical device, the bidirectional ring laser, is reported and the addition of injected noise can lead to an improved signal-to-noise ratio.
Abstract
We report the first observation of stochastic resonance in an optical device, the bidirectional ring laser. The experiment exploits a new technique to modulate periodically the asymmetry between the two counter-rotating lasing modes. The measurements verify that the addition of injected noise can lead to an improved signal-to-noise ratio (relative to that observed with no externally injected noise).

Effect of White Noise and Dichotomous Noise in a Bistable System

TL;DR: In this paper, the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of a bistable system subject to asymmetric dichotomous noise and multiplicative and additive white noise was investigated under the adiabatic approximation condition.

TL;DR: In this paper , the effect of multiplexing on stochastic resonance has been investigated in two-and multi-layer networks of bistable overdamped oscillators, and it has been shown that the effect is more pronounced for the increasing number of coupled layers.

Model of the catalytic A+B-->0 reaction with surface reconstruction.

TL;DR: It is shown that qualitative system features such as reactant concentration oscillations are independent of this substitution and the effect of monomer B adsorption instead of dimer B2 is examined.

Optical coherence of a scalar wave influenced by first-order and second-order statistics of its random phase

TL;DR: In this article, a simple model of a scalar optical wave with partial coherence was devised to describe the influence on the coherence of the wave, of the statistical properties of its random phase.

Correlation spectroscopy with noise light excitation

TL;DR: In this paper, the intensity correlation spectroscopy with noise light excitation was studied experimentally and theoretically, and high sensitivity was obtained in the experiment, and a high frequency resolution close to the theoretical limit was achieved.
