The first observation of stochastic resonance in an optical device, the bidirectional ring laser, is reported and the addition of injected noise can lead to an improved signal-to-noise ratio.
Abstract
We report the first observation of stochastic resonance in an optical device, the bidirectional ring laser. The experiment exploits a new technique to modulate periodically the asymmetry between the two counter-rotating lasing modes. The measurements verify that the addition of injected noise can lead to an improved signal-to-noise ratio (relative to that observed with no externally injected noise).

Limit cycles and stochastic resonance in a periodically driven Langevin equation subject to white noise

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigate stochastic resonance (SR) in a periodically driven Langevin system on a circle, where the bifurcation parameter of the system and the amplitude of the periodic signal are controlled.

Stochastic resonance for a model with two pathways

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors consider stochastic resonance for a diffusion with drift given by a potential, which has two metastable states and two pathways between them, depending on the direction of the forcing the height of the two barriers, one for each path, will either oscillate alternating or in synchronisation.

The coherence resonance in van der pol system induced by noise recycling

TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the coherence resonance in a delayed noisy Van der Pol system with supercritical Hopf bifurcation, which is influenced by a recycled noise.

Double resonance in the infinite-range quantum Ising model

TL;DR: It is proposed that the double resonance peaks should be a generic feature of continuous transitions, for both quantum and classical many-body systems.
