The first observation of stochastic resonance in an optical device, the bidirectional ring laser, is reported and the addition of injected noise can lead to an improved signal-to-noise ratio.
Abstract
We report the first observation of stochastic resonance in an optical device, the bidirectional ring laser. The experiment exploits a new technique to modulate periodically the asymmetry between the two counter-rotating lasing modes. The measurements verify that the addition of injected noise can lead to an improved signal-to-noise ratio (relative to that observed with no externally injected noise).

Diversity-induced resonance in a globally coupled bistable system with diversely distributed heterogeneity.

TL;DR: In this article , the authors show that a moderate degree of diversity, in form of quenched noise or intrinsic heterogeneity, can significantly strengthen the collective response of coupled extended systems.

Noise benefits of statistics with sign function in robust estimation

TL;DR: Noise benefits to the statistics with sign function in robust estimation problems and the noise-enhanced effect observed in the linear regression estimation demonstrates that the conclusions in the location parameter estimation can be extended to multidimensional parameter estimation tasks.

A new method of detecting line-spectrum based on auto-correlation with stochastic resonance theory

TL;DR: This method uses auto-correlation process to eliminate part of the noise, and then it imports the processed data into stochastic resonance system for weak line-spectrum detection.

Noise-influenced dynamics of nonlinear oscillators

TL;DR: The author considers a range of nonlinear dynamical systems, including an array of non linear, coupled oscillators, a vertically excited pendulum, the Duffing oscillator, and a Rayleigh-Duffing mixed type oscillator.
