The first observation of stochastic resonance in an optical device, the bidirectional ring laser, is reported and the addition of injected noise can lead to an improved signal-to-noise ratio.Abstract:
We report the first observation of stochastic resonance in an optical device, the bidirectional ring laser. The experiment exploits a new technique to modulate periodically the asymmetry between the two counter-rotating lasing modes. The measurements verify that the addition of injected noise can lead to an improved signal-to-noise ratio (relative to that observed with no externally injected noise).read more

Stochastic multiresonance for a fractional linear oscillator with time-delayed kernel and quadratic noise
TL;DR: In this paper, the stochastic resonance for a fractional oscillator with time-delayed kernel and quadratic trichotomous noise is investigated. And the SPA is a periodical function of the kernel delayed-time.

Zero-dispersion nonlinear resonance
TL;DR: In this paper, a new type of non-linear resonance is reported, which possesses an unusual counterintuitive feature that strong nonlinear response to a weak periodic force can be obtained in the absence of exact resonance between frequency of the force and any eigenfrequency of the system.

Nonlinear adaptive speech enhancement inspired by early auditory processing
TL;DR: A generic multi-microphone sub-band adaptive (MMSBA) framework is described which allows for the manipulation of several factors that may influence the intelligibility and perceived quality of the processed speech.

Entropic stochastic resonance in a confined structure driven by dichotomous noise and white noises
TL;DR: In this paper, the entropic stochastic resonance (ESR) in a confined system subjected to dichotomous noise and white noise and driven by a periodic sinusoidal force along the x axis of the structure and a time-dependent force in the declining direction was investigated.

Stochastic resonance quantified by statistical complexity measures in a bistable system subject to colored noise
TL;DR: It is turned out that the statistical complexity measures can be used to characterize some subtle signatures of noise-induced phenomena and the robustness of the results is verified with reducing the embedding dimension and the total length of the time series.
