The first observation of stochastic resonance in an optical device, the bidirectional ring laser, is reported and the addition of injected noise can lead to an improved signal-to-noise ratio.
Abstract
We report the first observation of stochastic resonance in an optical device, the bidirectional ring laser. The experiment exploits a new technique to modulate periodically the asymmetry between the two counter-rotating lasing modes. The measurements verify that the addition of injected noise can lead to an improved signal-to-noise ratio (relative to that observed with no externally injected noise).

Stochastic resonance in a periodic potential system driven by cross-correlated noises and periodic signal

TL;DR: The signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is used to characterize the stochastic resonance (SR) in a periodic potential system driven by cross-correlated noises and periodic signal and the effects of some system parameters, additive Gaussian white noise and multiplicative Gaussian colored noise intensity on SR are characterized by analyzing SNR curves.

The study of stochastic resonance based on piecewise hybrid system

TL;DR: Through theoretical analysis and numerical simulation, this paper proves that the classical bistable system is existence of output saturation, and a new piecewise hybrid system is put forward, and it is proved that there is no saturation in it.

Effect of entropic stochastic resonance in a confined structure driven by square-wave signal

TL;DR: In this paper, the entropic stochastic resonance (ESR) in a confined system, subject to dichotomous noise and white noise, driven by a periodic square-wave signal, was investigated.

A novel view of suprathreshold stochastic resonance and its applications to financial markets

TL;DR: An original application of Suprathreshold Stochastic Resonance is introduced, given a noise-corrupted signal, and SSR is induced in effort to filter the effect of the corrupting noise.
