The first observation of stochastic resonance in an optical device, the bidirectional ring laser, is reported and the addition of injected noise can lead to an improved signal-to-noise ratio.
Abstract
We report the first observation of stochastic resonance in an optical device, the bidirectional ring laser. The experiment exploits a new technique to modulate periodically the asymmetry between the two counter-rotating lasing modes. The measurements verify that the addition of injected noise can lead to an improved signal-to-noise ratio (relative to that observed with no externally injected noise).

Stochastic resonance in linear system driven by multiplicative noise and additive quadratic noise

TL;DR: In this article, the stochastic resonance (SR) was studied in an overdamped linear system driven by multiplicative noise and additive quadratic noise, and the exact expressions were obtained for the first two moments and the correlation function by using linear response and the properties of the dichotomous noise.

Stochastic resonance with reinforcement learning for underwater acoustic communication signal

TL;DR: An adaptive method called Reinforcement Learning & Genetic Algorithm (RLGA) for adjusting the parameters of the SR system has been proposed and can increase the output signal to noise ratio (OSNR) evidently and has robust in different kinds of marine noise and UAC channels.

Simple electronic circuit model for diversity-induced resonance

TL;DR: In this paper, the diversity is represented by a negative conductance with a bounded random distribution for each circuit module and the diversity-induced transition, which forces the system from monostable to bistable, is of key importance for the emergence of resonance.

A comparison of dithers for hysteresis alleviation in dahl model based piezoelectric actuator

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of hysteresis can be mitigated by the proper application of a suitably selected dither sequence, which gives the optimal system performance in terms of two tests-tracking error and area under the hystresis curve.

Thermodynamic Analysis of Bistability in Rayleigh-Bénard Convection.

TL;DR: This study shows that thermodynamic analysis based on entropy production can be used to predict the transition point in the bistable region during Rayleigh–Bénard convection using the experimental relationship between the thermodynamic flux and driving force.
