The first observation of stochastic resonance in an optical device, the bidirectional ring laser, is reported and the addition of injected noise can lead to an improved signal-to-noise ratio.
Abstract
We report the first observation of stochastic resonance in an optical device, the bidirectional ring laser. The experiment exploits a new technique to modulate periodically the asymmetry between the two counter-rotating lasing modes. The measurements verify that the addition of injected noise can lead to an improved signal-to-noise ratio (relative to that observed with no externally injected noise).

Weak signal enhancement by nonlinear resonance control in a forced nano-electromechanical resonator.

TL;DR: A resonance manipulation strategy able to enhance weak signals in a nonlinear oscillator consisting of an optically-probed driven nano-electromechanical resonator, which might have applications in the fields of microwave signal amplification or sensing.

Weak electric fields detectability in a noisy neural network

TL;DR: Results show that the neural network model has an optimal region for the detectability of weak electric field signal, and the model sensitivity is studied in detail.

Effects of electromagnetic induction on vibrational resonance in single neurons and neuronal networks

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the effects of electromagnetic induction on the Vibrational Resonance (VR) in both single neurons and small-world networks, and found that the occurrence of VR in single neurons requires less energy in the presence of EM induction, although the resonant peak of the response reduces.

Some stochastic phenomena in a driven double-well system

TL;DR: In this paper, the overdamped motion of a Brownian particle in a driven double-well system was studied to understand various physical phenomena observed experimentally, such as hysteresis, stochastic resonance, and net undirectional motion in a symmetric periodic system.

Experimental study of stochastic resonance in a Chua’s circuit operating in a chaotic regime

TL;DR: In this paper, an experimental study of stochastic resonance in an electronic Chua's circuit whose dynamics switches between two different stable chaotic attractors when it is driven by a periodic signal and a Gaussian white noise is presented.
