The accuracy of several algorithms was determined and the best performing methods were implemented in a user-friendly open-source tool for performing DPIV flow analysis in Matlab.Abstract:
Digital particle image velocimetry (DPIV) is a non-intrusive analysis technique that is very popular for mapping flows quantitatively. To get accurate results, in particular in complex flow fields, a number of challenges have to be faced and solved: The quality of the flow measurements is affected by computational details such as image pre-conditioning, sub-pixel peak estimators, data validation procedures, interpolation algorithms and smoothing methods. The accuracy of several algorithms was determined and the best performing methods were implemented in a user-friendly open-source tool for performing DPIV flow analysis in Matlab.read more

Simulating flow induced migration in vascular remodelling
TL;DR: A computational model in which shear stress mediated EC migration has the leading role and other factors, such as avascular regions and EC elongation, are also accounted for is developed and shows that shear Stress has the largest effect on the remodelling process.

SlideSim: 3D Landslide Displacement Monitoring through a Physics-Based Simulation Approach to Self-Supervised Learning
TL;DR: SlideSim as mentioned in this paper is a self-supervised approach to train an optical flow predictor for the purpose of mapping 3D landslide displacement using sequential DEM rasters, which is capable of automated, selfsupervised learning by building a synthetic dataset of displacement landslide DEM raster and accompanying label data in the form of u/v pixel offset flow grids.

Experimental study on thermal flow characteristics in square serpentine heat exchangers mounted with louver-type turbulators
TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed innovative louver-type turbulators to enhance the heat transfer rate in three major ways, i.e. core flow disturbance, jet impingement, and extended heat transfer surface.
Turbulent heat exchange between water and ice at an evolving ice-water interface
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors conduct laboratory experiments on the time evolution of an ice layer cooled from below and subjected to a turbulent shear flow of warm water from above, and fit their experimental measurements of ice thickness and temperature to a one-dimensional model for the evolution of the ice thickness in which the turbulent heat transfer is parameterized in terms of the friction velocity of the shear flows.

The Design and Implementation of FFTW3
Matteo Frigo,Steven G. Johnson +1 more
TL;DR: It is shown that such an approach can yield an implementation of the discrete Fourier transform that is competitive with hand-optimized libraries, and the software structure that makes the current FFTW3 version flexible and adaptive is described.

Particle Image Velocimetry: A Practical Guide
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a practical guide for the planning, performance and understanding of experiments employing the PIV technique, which is primarily intended for engineers, scientists and students, who already have some basic knowledge of fluid mechanics and nonintrusive optical measurement techniques.

TL;DR: It is concluded that clipped ahe should become a method of choice in medical imaging and probably also in other areas of digital imaging, and that clip ahe can be made adequately fast to be routinely applied in the normal display sequence.

TL;DR: In this article, the directional ambiguity associated with PIV and LSV is resolved by implementing local spatial cross-correlations between two sequential single-exposed particle images, and the recovered velocity data are used to compute the spatial and temporal vorticity distribution and the circulation of the vortex ring.
