Abstract
By way of worked examples in typical but somewhat idealized cases the effect on circuit speed of circuit interconnections is studied. The source, calculation and minimization of interconnection crosstalk is also discussed. It is shown that high-speed circuitry must be miniaturized and the implications are discussed.

Exploiting on-chip inductance in high speed clock distribution networks

TL;DR: In this paper, an industrial clock distribution network is presented to illustrate the process in which inductance can be used to improve the performance of high speed integrated circuits, which can improve the signal slew rate (the rise time), virtually eliminate short-circuit power consumption, and reduce the area of the active devices and repeaters inserted to optimize the performance.

High Density Multiwire Circuits Using Thinner Wires

TL;DR: In this paper, a high density multiwire circuit technology which can lay two insulated wires between throughholes on 2.5 mm centers has been developed and applied to backplane wiring boards in an electronic switching system.

Total charge theorem for directional couplers and Z-matched coupled lines

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the response to a voltage step on the input is a net amount of coupled charge on the output that is constant, and depends only on fixed properties of the coupler and the size of the voltage step, not on the waveform.

Transient power in CMOS gates driving LC transmission lines

TL;DR: Close form solutions for the output voltage and short-circuit power of a CMOS gate driving an LC transmission line are presented and agree with circuit simulations within 11% error for a wide range of transistor widths and line impedances for a 0.25 /spl mu/m CMOS technology.
