Abstract
By way of worked examples in typical but somewhat idealized cases the effect on circuit speed of circuit interconnections is studied. The source, calculation and minimization of interconnection crosstalk is also discussed. It is shown that high-speed circuitry must be miniaturized and the implications are discussed.

Sensitivity of interconnect delay to on-chip inductance

TL;DR: Two characteristics of on-chip inductance are discussed in this paper that can significantly simplify the extraction of on/off inductance, particularly the propagation delay and the rise time.

A new pseudo-differential transmission scheme for on-chip and on-board interconnections

TL;DR: In this article, a new type of pseudo-differential link using an interconnection comprising a return conductor wider than the transmission conductors, referred to as the ZXnoise method, is proposed.

Analysis of pulse propagation in coupled transmissions

TL;DR: In this article, a model describing transient propagation in multiconductor strip transmission lines supporting transverse electromagnetic waves travelling at different velocities has been implemented, which uses a transform approach to derive the closed-form expressions for the line voltages and currents in the time domain.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors discuss known crosstalk mitigation methods and present a different technique applicable in various situations, which provides a drastic reduction of the crosstralk.

FDTD modeling of noise in computer packages

TL;DR: The finite difference time domain (FDTD) algorithm is used to obtain the full-wave electromagnetic field solutions from which the equivalent circuits of coupled transmission lines, discontinuities in Transmission lines, and a parallel-plate power plane configuration are determined.

Directional Electromagnetic Couplers

TL;DR: In this article, a simple configuration of four wires (or two wires and ground) can serve simultaneously as a directional coupler, filter, and transformer, and the coupled lines may be of equal or different impedance.

The engineering design of the stretch computer

TL;DR: This computer, like the 704, is aimed at scientific problems such as reactor design, hydrodynamics problems, partial differential equations etc., its instruction set and organization are such that it can handle with ease data-processing problems normally associated with commercial applications, such as processing of alphanumeric fields, sorting, and decimal arithmetic.

The Atlas supervisor

TL;DR: In this article, a brief description of work originating in the Computer Group at Manchester University is given, where the core store is divided into 512 word "pages"; this is also the size of the fixed blocks on drums and magnetic tapes.
