TL;DR: A rapid search in PubMed shows that using "flow cytometry immunology" as a search term yields more than 68 000 articles, the first of which is not about lymphocytes as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
Human microglia regional heterogeneity and phenotypes determined by multiplexed single-cell mass cytometry.
Chotima Böttcher,Stephan Schlickeiser,Marjolein A. M. Sneeboer,Désirée Kunkel,Anniki Knop,Evdokia Paza,Pawel Fidzinski,Larissa Kraus,G. Snijders,René S. Kahn,Axel R. Schulz,Henrik E. Mei,Elly M. Hol,Elly M. Hol,Britta Siegmund,Rainer Glauben,Eike Jakob Spruth,Lot de Witte,Lot de Witte,Josef Priller +19 more
TL;DR: The phenotypic signature of hu MG was identified, which was distinct from peripheral myeloid cells but was comparable to fresh huMG, and microglia regional heterogeneity was identified.
Journal ArticleDOI
Barcoding of Live Human Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells for Multiplexed Mass Cytometry
TL;DR: CD45 barcoding facilitates accuracy of mass cytometric immunophenotyping studies, thus supporting biomarker discovery efforts, and it should be applicable to fluorescence flow cytometry as well.
Journal ArticleDOI
Low Thymic Activity and Dendritic Cell Numbers Are Associated with the Immune Response to Primary Viral Infection in Elderly Humans
Axel R. Schulz,Axel R. Schulz,Julia Nora Mälzer,Cristina Domingo,Karsten Jürchott,Andreas Grützkau,Nina Babel,Mikalai Nienen,Tomas Jelinek,Matthias Niedrig,Andreas Thiel +10 more
TL;DR: It is revealed in this article that essential elements of immune responses such as recent thymic emigrants and dendritic cells strongly relate to productive immunity in the elderly, providing a conceivable explanation for diminished responsiveness to vaccination with neoantigens and infection with de novo pathogens in the aged population.
Journal ArticleDOI
CD40L expression permits CD8+ T cells to execute immunologic helper functions.
Marco Frentsch,Regina Stark,Nadine Matzmohr,Sarah Meier,Sibel Durlanik,Axel R. Schulz,Ulrik Stervbo,Karsten Jürchott,Friedemann Gebhardt,Guido Heine,Morgan A. Reuter,Michael R. Betts,Dirk H. Busch,Andreas Thiel +13 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that a major part of central and effector memory CD8 (+) T cells expresses CD40L, one key molecule for CD4(+) T-cell-mediated help.
