TL;DR: A comprehensive phylogenetic classification of the kingdom Fungi is proposed, with reference to recent molecular phylogenetic analyses, and with input from diverse members of the fungal taxonomic community.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: It is indicated that there may have been at least four independent losses of the flagellum in the kingdom Fungi, and the enigmatic microsporidia seem to be derived from an endoparasitic chytrid ancestor similar to Rozella allomycis, on the earliest diverging branch of the fungal phylogenetic tree.
Journal ArticleDOI
Revisions to the Classification, Nomenclature, and Diversity of Eukaryotes

TL;DR: It is confirmed that eukaryotes form at least two domains, the loss of monophyly in the Excavata, robust support for the Haptista and Cryptista, and suggested primer sets for DNA sequences from environmental samples that are effective for each clade are provided.
Journal ArticleDOI
A molecular phylogeny of the flagellated fungi (Chytridiomycota) and description of a new phylum (Blastocladiomycota).
Timothy Y. James,Peter M. Letcher,Joyce E. Longcore,Sharon E. Mozley-Standridge,David Porter,Martha J. Powell,Gareth W. Griffith,Rytas Vilgalys +7 more
TL;DR: The phylogeny suggests that Chytridiomycota is not monophyletic and there are four major lineages of chytrids: Rozella spp.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: A set of standards and protocols are proposed to improve the data quality of new sequences, and it is suggested how type and other reference sequences can be used to improve identification of Fungi.
