Leukocyte Telomere Length and Carotid Artery Intimal Medial Thickness: The Framingham Heart Study
Christopher J. O'Donnell,Serkalem Demissie,Masayuki Kimura,Daniel Levy,J. P. Gardner,Charles S. White,Ralph B. D'Agostino,Philip A. Wolf,Joseph F. Polak,L. Adrienne Cupples,Abraham Aviv +10 more
TL;DR: In obese men, shortened LTL is a powerful marker of increased carotid IMT, which warrants further confirmation given the public health impact of atherosclerosis and in particular the current epidemic of obesity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hemostatic markers of endothelial dysfunction and risk of incident type 2 diabetes: the Framingham Offspring Study.
James B. Meigs,Christopher J. O'Donnell,Geoffrey H. Tofler,Emelia J. Benjamin,Caroline S. Fox,Izabela Lipinska,David M. Nathan,Lisa M. Sullivan,Ralph B. D'Agostino,Peter W.F. Wilson +9 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that in this community-based sample, plasma markers of endothelial dysfunction increased risk of incident diabetes independent of other diabetes risk factors including obesity, insulin resistance, and inflammation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Longitudinal threshold changes in older men with audiometric notches.
TL;DR: The finding of increased loss at 2 kHz suggests that the effects of noise damage may continue long after the noise exposure has stopped, and that the noise-damaged ear does not 'age' at the same rate as the non-noise damaged ear.
Journal ArticleDOI
Increasing trends in incidence of overweight and obesity over 5 decades.
Nisha I. Parikh,Michael J. Pencina,Thomas J. Wang,Katherine J. Lanier,Caroline S. Fox,Caroline S. Fox,Ralph B. D'Agostino,Ramachandran S. Vasan +7 more
TL;DR: Overall, incidence rates of overweight increased 2-fold and that of obesity more than 3-fold over 5 decades, findings that remained robust upon additional adjustment for baseline BMI in each decade.
