TL;DR: In this article, gold nanoparticle (NP)-doped borate glasses were synthesized via the melt-quench method and the nonlinear optical properties of these glasses were investigated at different wavelengths (i.e., at 532 nm using nanosecond pulses, at 750 nm, 800 nm, and 850 nm using femtosecond, MHz pulses).
Abstract: Optical glasses possessing large third-order optical nonlinear susceptibility and fast response times are promising materials for the development of advanced nonlinear photonic devices. In this context, gold nanoparticle (NP)-doped borate glasses were synthesized via the melt-quench method. The nonlinear optical (NLO) properties of thus prepared glasses were investigated at different wavelengths (i.e., at 532 nm using nanosecond pulses, at 750 nm, 800 nm, and 850 nm wavelengths using femtosecond, MHz pulses). At 532 nm, open aperture (OA) Z-scan signatures of gold NP-doped borate glasses demonstrated reverse saturable absorption (RSA), attributed to mixed intra-band and interband transitions, while in the 750‒850 nm region, the OA Z-scan data revealed the presence of saturable absorption (SA), possibly due to intra-band transitions. The NLO coefficients were evaluated at all the spectral regions and further compared with some of the recently reported glasses. The magnitudes of obtained NLO coefficients clearly demonstrate that the investigated glasses are potential materials for photonic device applications.

TL;DR: A framework using IoT, which helps in detecting car accidents and notifying them immediately is introduced by integrating smart sensors with a microcontroller within the car that can trigger at the time of an accident.
Abstract: With an increase in population, there is an increase in the number of accidents that happen every minute. These road accidents are unpredictable. There are situations where most of the accidents could not be reported properly to nearby ambulances on time. In most of the cases, there is the unavailability of emergency services which lack in providing the first aid and timely service which can lead to loss of life by some minutes. Hence, there is a need to develop a system that caters to all these problems and can effectively function to overcome the delay time caused by the medical vehicles. The purpose of this paper is to introduce a framework using IoT, which helps in detecting car accidents and notifying them immediately. This can be achieved by integrating smart sensors with a microcontroller within the car that can trigger at the time of an accident. The other modules like GPS and GSM are integrated with the system to obtain the location coordinates of the accidents and sending it to registered numbers and nearby ambulance to notify them about the accident to obtain immediate help at the location.

TL;DR: The emphasis of this paper is to mark the rise of quantum cryptography, its elements, quantum key distribution protocols and quantum networks.
Abstract: Quantum cryptography renders a cryptographic solution which is imperishable as it fortifies prime secrecy that is applied to quantum public key distribution. It is a prominent technology wherein two entities can communicate securely with the sights of quantum physics. In classical cryptography, bits are used to encode information where as quantum cryptography i.e. quantum computer uses photons or quantum particles and photon's polarization which is their quantized properties to encode the information. This is represented in qubits which is the unit for quantum cryptography. The transmissions are secure as it is depended on the inalienable quantum mechanics laws. The emphasis of this paper is to mark the rise of quantum cryptography, its elements, quantum key distribution protocols and quantum networks.

TL;DR: In this paper, the exponential space dependent heat source (ESHS) process is utilized to explore the thermal transport characteristics of Marangoni convective flow in a Cu-H 2 O nanoliquid due to an infinite disk.
Abstract: The exponential space dependent heat source (ESHS) process is utilized to explore the thermal transport characteristics of Marangoni convective flow in a Cu-H 2 O nanoliquid due to an infinite disk. Flow is driven by linear temperature. Five distinct nanoparticle shapes such as sphere, tetrahedron, column, hexahedron and lamina are accounted. Impacts of Joule heating, radiation and viscous dissipation are also retained. Hamilton-Crosser’s expression is employed to deploy effective thermal conductivity of nanoliquid. Multi degree partial differential equations system is reduced by Karman transformations and then solved via shooting method. It is figured out that the heat transfer rate is enhanced for stronger Marangoni convection and nanoparticle volume fraction. Also, shape of the nanoparticles significantly affects the flow fields.

TL;DR: The Border Collie’s unique herding style from the front as well as from the sides is adopted successfully in this paper and provides very competitive results, when compared with seven state-of-the-art algorithms like Ant Colony optimization, Differential algorithm, Genetic algorithm, Grey-wolf optimizer, Harris Hawk optimization, Particle Swarm optimization and Whale optimization algorithm.
Abstract: In recent times, several metaheuristic algorithms have been proposed for solving real world optimization problems. In this paper, a new metaheuristic algorithm, called the Border Collie Optimization is introduced. The algorithm is developed by mimicking the sheep herding styles of Border Collie dogs. The Border Collie's unique herding style from the front as well as from the sides is adopted successfully in this paper. In this algorithm, the entire population is divided into two parts viz., dogs and sheep. This is done to equally focus on both exploration and exploitation of the search space. The Border Collie utilizes a predatory move called eyeing. This technique of the dogs is utilized to prevent the algorithm from getting stuck into local optima. A sensitivity analysis of the proposed algorithm has been carried out using the Sobol's sensitivity indices with the Sobol g-function for tuning of parameters. The proposed algorithm is applied on thirty-five benchmark functions. The proposed algorithm provides very competitive results, when compared with seven state-of-the-art algorithms like Ant Colony optimization, Differential algorithm, Genetic algorithm, Grey-wolf optimizer, Harris Hawk optimization, Particle Swarm optimization and Whale optimization algorithm. The performance of the proposed algorithm is analytically and visually tested by different methods to judge its supremacy. Finally, the statistical significance of the proposed algorithm is established by comparing it with other algorithms by employing Kruskal-Wallis test and Friedman test.
