TL;DR: In this paper, the main goal of such a stirring mechanism is to generate an amplitude-varying electromagnetic field that is ideally statistically uniform, which is the goal of the RC.
Abstract: Reverberation chambers (RC), a name inspired in room acoustics, are also known in literature as reverberating, reverb, mode-stirred or mode-tuned chambers. In their basic form, they consist of a shielded metallic enclosure, forming a cavity resonator, together with some mode-stirring mechanism. The main goal of such stirring mechanism is to generate an amplitude-varying electromagnetic field that is ideally statistically uniform.

TL;DR: The expanding research and development pipeline, commercial landscape and regulatory environment surrounding the pursuit of RNA-based biocontrol compounds with improved environmental profiles are highlighted and the commitments of well-established agrochemical companies to invest in research endeavours and the role of start-up companies are crucial for the successful development of practical applications for these compounds.
Abstract: Facing current climate challenges and drastically reduced chemical options for plant protection, the exploitation of RNA interference (RNAi) as an agricultural biotechnology tool has unveiled possible new solutions to the global problems of agricultural losses caused by pests and other biotic and abiotic stresses. While the use of RNAi as a tool in agriculture is still limited to a few transgenic crops, and only adopted in restricted parts of the world, scientists and industry are already seeking innovations in leveraging and exploiting the potential of RNAi in the form of RNA-based biocontrol compounds for external applications. Here, we highlight the expanding research and development pipeline, commercial landscape and regulatory environment surrounding the pursuit of RNA-based biocontrol compounds with improved environmental profiles. The commitments of well-established agrochemical companies to invest in research endeavours and the role of start-up companies are crucial for the successful development of practical applications for these compounds. Additionally, the availability of standardized guidelines to tackle regulatory ambiguities surrounding RNA-based biocontrol compounds will help to facilitate the entire commercialization process. Finally, communication to create awareness and public acceptance will be key to the deployment of these compounds. © 2019 Society of Chemical Industry.

TL;DR: In this paper, four zirconia primers have been deposited on 1050 aluminium sheets by sol-gel process, and the surface microstructure and chemical composition were determined by AFM and XPS for all samples.
Abstract: The recent restriction in the use of chromium VI gave a new impulse in the field of anti-corrosion treatment for an alternative solution. A promising route seems to be the deposition of a thin ceramic layer on the metallic surface. In this study, four zirconia primers have been deposited on 1050 aluminium sheets by sol–gel process. Sol preparation was obtained starting from two different precursors and two curing temperatures were tested. Surface microstructure and chemical composition were determined by AFM and XPS for all samples. Electrochemical Noise Analysis (ENA) was used in Harrison's solution to evaluate the corrosion resistant features of the samples. Tests have been also performed on samples protected by polyester topcoat deposited on the aforesaid primers. AFM analysis revealed that, for all the samples, covering and structure of the coating were uniform. XPS depth profiling allowed concluding that film thickness was in the range from 18 to 30 nm and that chemical composition was constant through primer thickness. Corrosion tests demonstrated that zirconia primers showed good performances in terms of corrosion resistance, comparable to chromate and fluotitanate layers industrially prepared. Topcoated samples gave an optimal corrosion resistance.
