Abstract: A measurement of the Higgs boson mass is presented based on the combined data samples of the ATLAS and CMS experiments at the CERN LHC in the H→γγ and H→ZZ→4l decay channels. The results are obtained from a simultaneous fit to the reconstructed invariant mass peaks in the two channels and for the two experiments. The measured masses from the individual channels and the two experiments are found to be consistent among themselves. The combined measured mass of the Higgs boson is mH=125.09±0.21 (stat)±0.11 (syst) GeV.

Abstract: Recently sulfate radical-based advanced oxidation processes (SR-AOPs) attract increasing attention due to their capability and adaptability in decontamination. The couple of cobalt and peroxymonosulfate (PMS) is an efficient way to produce reactive sulfate radicals. This article reviews the state-of-the-art progress on various heterogeneous cobalt-based catalysts for PMS activation, including cobalt oxides, cobalt-ferrite and supported cobalt by diverse substrates. We summarize the intrinsic properties of these catalysts and their fundamental behaviors in PMS activation, as well as synthetic approaches. In addition, influencing factors and synergistic techniques of Co/PMS systems in organic degradation and possible environmental applications are also discussed. Finally, we propose perspectives on challenges related to cobalt-based catalysts, heterogeneous Co/PMS systems and their potential applications in practical environmental cleanup.

Abstract: We propose low-rank representation (LRR) to segment data drawn from a union of multiple linear (or affine) subspaces. Given a set of data vectors, LRR seeks the lowest-rank representation among all the candidates that represent all vectors as the linear combination of the bases in a dictionary. Unlike the well-known sparse representation (SR), which computes the sparsest representation of each data vector individually, LRR aims at finding the lowest-rank representation of a collection of vectors jointly. LRR better captures the global structure of data, giving a more effective tool for robust subspace segmentation from corrupted data. Both theoretical and experimental results show that LRR is a promising tool for subspace segmentation.

Abstract: Circular RNAs (circRNAs) represent a class of widespread and diverse endogenous RNAs that may regulate gene expression in eukaryotes. However, the regulation and function of human circRNAs remain largely unknown. Here we generate ribosomal-depleted RNA sequencing data from six normal tissues and seven cancers, and detect at least 27,000 circRNA candidates. Many of these circRNAs are differently expressed between the normal and cancerous tissues. We further characterize one abundant circRNA derived from Exon2 of the HIPK3 gene, termed circHIPK3. The silencing of circHIPK3 but not HIPK3 mRNA significantly inhibits human cell growth. Via a luciferase screening assay, circHIPK3 is observed to sponge to 9 miRNAs with 18 potential binding sites. Specifically, we show that circHIPK3 directly binds to miR-124 and inhibits miR-124 activity. Our results provide evidence that circular RNA produced from precursor mRNA may have a regulatory role in human cells.
