Abstract: We propose an architecture of an embodied conversational agent that takes into account two aspects of emotions: the emotions triggered by an event (the felt emotions) and the expressed emotions (the displayed ones), which may differ in real life. In this paper, we present a formalization of emotion eliciting-events based on a model of the agent’s mental state composed of beliefs, choices, and uncertainties. This model enables to identify the emotional state of an agent at any time. We also introduce a computational model based on fuzzy logic that computes facial expressions of emotions blending. Finally, examples of facial expressions resulting from the implementation of our model are shown.

Abstract: This study examines the efficacy of neurofeedback training in the cognitive division of the anterior cingulate gyrus and describes its relationship with cortical regions known to be involved in executive functions. This study was conducted with eight non-clinical students, four male and four female, with a mean age of twenty-two. Learning occurred in the ACcd at significant levels over sessions and in the anterior regions that receive projections from the AC. There appears to be a multidimensional executive circuit that increases in the same frequency in apparent synchrony with the AC and it may be possible to train this sub-cortical region using LNFB.

Abstract: This paper addresses downlink cooperation at a system level. Cooperation between base stations is an alternative to macrodiversity to provide QoS continuity in case of mobility. We propose a radio resource management strategy for the relay channel, made of relayed users identification, resource allocation and power control in an OFDMA-based system. Four scheduling methods are tested for power allocation in inter-cell interference environment: globally optimal, proportional fair, harmonic mean fair and max-min fair. Cooperation brings additional gain, both in terms of throughput and fairness, with all fair schedulers.

Abstract: Aspect-Oriented Programming (AOP) and Component- Based Software Engineering (CBSE) offer solutions to improve the separation of concerns and to enhance a program structure. If the integration of AOP into CBSE has already been proposed, none of these solutions focus on the application of CBSE principles to AOP. In this paper we propose a twofold integration of AOP and CBSE. We introduce a general model for components and aspects, named Fractal Aspect Component (FAC). FAC decomposes a software system into regular components and aspect components (ACs), where an AC is a regular component that embodies a crosscutting concern. We reify the aspect domain of an AC and the relationship between an AC and a component, called an aspect binding, as first-class runtime entities. This clarifies the architecture of a system where components and aspects coexist. The system can evolve from the design to the execution by adding or removing components, aspects or bindings.
