TL;DR: Using the Ito formula, Lyapunov function, and Halanay inequality, several mean-square stability criteria are established from which the feasible bounds of impulses are estimated, provided that parameter uncertainty and stochastic perturbations are well-constrained.
Abstract: This paper focuses on the hybrid effects of parameter uncertainty, stochastic perturbation, and impulses on global stability of delayed neural networks By using the Ito formula, Lyapunov function, and Halanay inequality, we established several mean-square stability criteria from which we can estimate the feasible bounds of impulses, provided that parameter uncertainty and stochastic perturbations are well-constrained Moreover, the present method can also be applied to general differential systems with stochastic perturbation and impulses

TL;DR: The greater tolerance of Xida 889 to heat and drought stresses was attributed to strong antioxidant defense system, higher osmolyte accumulation, and maintenance of photosynthetic pigments and nutrient balance compared with Xida 319.
Abstract: Maize is a sensitive crop to drought and heat stresses, particularly at the reproductive stages of development. The present study investigated the individual and interactive effects of drought (50% field capacity) and heat (38 °C/30 °C) stresses on morpho-physiological growth, yield, nutrient uptake and oxidative metabolism in two maize hybrids i.e., ‘Xida 889’ and ‘Xida 319’. The stress treatments were applied at tasseling stage for 15 days. Drought, heat and drought + heat stress caused oxidative stress by the over-production of ROS (O2−, H2O2, OH−) and enhanced malondialdehyde contents, which led to reduced photosynthetic components, nutrients uptake and yield attributes. The concurrent occurrence of drought and heat was more severe for maize growth than the single stress. However, both stresses induced the metabolites accumulation and enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidants to prevent the oxidative damage. The performance of Xida 899 was more prominent than the Xida 319. The greater tolerance of Xida 889 to heat and drought stresses was attributed to strong antioxidant defense system, higher osmolyte accumulation, and maintenance of photosynthetic pigments and nutrient balance compared with Xida 319.

TL;DR: This multimodal AuNR-ASP-Ce6 conjugate offers a remarkably improved and synergistic therapeutic effect compared to PTT or PDT alone, providing high specificity and therapeutic efficiency, which can be generalized to other types of cancer therapies.
Abstract: An aptamer switch probe (ASP) linking chlorin e6 (Ce6), a photosensitizer molecule, to the surface of gold nanorods (AuNRs) was used to target cancer cells for photodynamic therapy (PDT) and photothermal therapy (PTT). In the presence of target cancer cells, the ASP changes conformation to drive Ce6 away from the gold surface, thereby producing singlet oxygen for PDT upon light irradiation. Since each AuNR is modified with many ASP-Ce6 molecules, the AuNR-ASP-Ce6 conjugate yields enhanced binding and therapeutic effect by the added ability to carry many photosensitizers. In addition, absorption of radiation by the gold nanorods enables further cell destruction by the photothermal effect. Consequently, this multimodal AuNR-ASP-Ce6 conjugate offers a remarkably improved and synergistic therapeutic effect compared to PTT or PDT alone, providing high specificity and therapeutic efficiency, which can be generalized to other types of cancer therapies.

TL;DR: In this article, electrical conductivity and the electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding effectiveness of poly(L-lactide)/multi-walled carbon nanotube (PLLA/MWCNT) nanocomposites without sacrificing their mechanical properties via simply choosing two different PLLA polymers with different viscosities and crystallinities.
Abstract: Electrically conductive segregated networks were built in poly(L-lactide)/multi-walled carbon nanotube (PLLA/MWCNT) nanocomposites without sacrificing their mechanical properties via simply choosing two different PLLA polymers with different viscosities and crystallinities. First, the MWCNTs were dispersed in PLLA with low viscosity and crystallinity (L-PLLA) to obtain the L-PLANT phase. Second, the PLLA particles with high viscosity and crystallinity (H-PLLA) were well coated with the L-PLANT phase at 140 °C which was below the melting temperature of H-PLLA. Finally, the coated H-PLLA particles were compressed above the melting temperature of H-PLLA to form the PLLA/MWCNT nanocomposites with segregated structures. The morphological observation showed the successful location of MWCNTs in the continuous L-PLLA phase, resulting in an ultralow percolation threshold of 0.019 vol% MWCNTs. The electrical conductivity and the electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding effectiveness (SE) of the composites with the segregated structure are 25 S m−1 and ∼30 dB, showing three orders and 36% higher than that of the samples with a random distribution of MWCNTs with 0.8 vol% of MWCNT loading, respectively. High-performance electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding was also observed mainly dependent on the highly efficient absorption shielding, which can be achieved by the densely continuous MWCNT networks and the abundant interfaces induced by the segregated structures. Furthermore, the composites with segregated structures not only showed higher Young's modulus and tensile strength than the corresponding conventional composites, but also maintained high elongation at break because of the continuous and dense MWCNT networks induced by the segregated structures and the high interfacial interaction between H-PLLA and L-PLLA.
