TL;DR: In this article, an adsorbent made of silver nano-particles attached onto bamboo-based activated carbon (Ag-AC) was prepared, which was characterized by FESEM, TEM, SEM-EDX, BET, and XRD.
Abstract: Volatile organic compounds, e.g. formaldehyde, could pollute the indoor and outdoor air. Activated carbon (AC) is most widely used adsorbent for removal of this pollutant. In this work, an adsorbent made of silver nano-particles attached onto bamboo-based activated carbon (Ag-AC) was prepared. The adsorbent was characterized by FESEM, TEM, SEM-EDX, BET, and XRD. FESEM images showed that Ag-AC has less pores than the AC, indicating that the silver nano-particles were deposited on the pore structures of AC. TEM image showed that the silver nano-particles were well distributed on the bamboo-based activated carbon. The SEM-EDX results confirmed the presence of silver on Ag-AC, whereas the BET specific surface area measurements indicated that the nanoparticle deposits reduced the available surface area of the activated carbon. The adsorption experiments were conducted in a continuous fixed-bed column. The effect of different influent flow rates and initial concentrations of formaldehyde were studied. The Ag-AC adsorbent exhibited much longer breakthrough times during column tests than AC at the same flow rate. The mass of formaldehyde removed by the Ag-AC column was 2.36 times greater than that observed in the AC column. The experimental breakthrough data agreed within 5% with the predictions of Thomas and Yoon-Nelson models.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyzed and described the ability of a student science concepts from the aspect of scientific literacy that includes aspects of scientific knowledge, scientific competence, scientific context as well as the factors that influence the students' science literacy skills, and found that 66.2% of students considered the theory and explained concepts correctly, but they had a limited understanding and were difficult to connect to the concept of his own opinion.
Abstract: The fundamental issue is the growing use of scientific information possessed by students to solve problems in daily life and produce useful scientific source from scientific literacy. The purpose of the research was to analyze and describe the ability of a student science concepts from the aspect of scientific literacy that includes aspects of scientific knowledge, scientific competence, scientific context as well as the factors that influence the students' science literacy skills. This research was quantitative descriptive analysis. The instrument used was a matter of objective 40 along with the reasons of the physics concept and biology concepts that are used to measure aspects of scientific knowledge, scientific competence, and scientific context, while the students' attitudes towards science and science teaching and learning strategies measured by questionnaire instrument. Instruments used included multiple-choice test questions reasoned and questionnaires (the attitude of science and science teaching and learning strategies). Based on data analysis it was known that the ability of science literacy PGSD UMK students varied, 66.2% of students were at the level of nominal and 33.8% of the students were at the functional level. It showed that 66.2% of students already had a concept for connecting science with other disciplines, could write a scientific term, but students still had misconceptions, while 33.8% of students considered the theory and explained concepts correctly, but they had a limited understanding and were difficult to connect to the concept of his own opinion.

TL;DR: In this paper, a character integrated science learning media on the theme of conservation with science edutainment approach was developed for junior high school students in the form of puzzles, crossword and ICT-based squareword.
The aim of this research is to develop a character integrated science learning media on the theme of conservation with science edutainment approach. The method used to achieve the goal of development through Research and Development (R and D) is directed to develop media integrated science learning environment characterized by caring conservation theme for junior high school students, in the form of puzzles, crossword and ICT-based squareword. The results of this study indicate that the integrated science learning outcomes increased conservation theme. Overall of the improvement (gain) learning outcomes of 0.85, means increase with height criteria. The average total score of the indicator is 93.75 environmentally conscious characters that have shown entrenched criteria (MK) among students.
