TL;DR: In this article, a new modification is developed on conventional Claus process to increase the overall sulfur recovery as well as to decrease the costs, the modification combines both oxygen enrichment and recycling, it is simulated and studied for various N 2 /O 2 ratios with and without using SURE double combustion technique.

TL;DR: A new and more sensitive method of assessment is suggested which utilizes a combination of point and percentage reductions in PAR scores, which was found to have better correlations with the 'Gold standard' than the PAR nomogram.
Abstract: The PAR Index was developed to measure treatment outcome in orthodontics Validity was improved by weighting the scores of some components to reflect their relative importance However, the index still has limitations, principally due to the high weight assigned to overjet Difficulties also arise from the application of one weighting system to all malocclusions, since occlusal features vary in importance in different classes of malocclusion The present study examined PAR Index validity using orthodontic consultant assessments as the 'Gold standard' and clinical ranking of occlusal features and statistical modelling to derive a new weighting system, separate for each malocclusion class Discriminant and regression analyses were used to derive new criteria for measuring treatment outcome As a result a new and more sensitive method of assessment is suggested which utilizes a combination of point and percentage reductions in PAR scores This was found to have better correlations with the 'Gold standard' than the PAR nomogram

TL;DR: Risk assessment scales are useful research tools, but may not be useful in clinical practice as there is no evidence the use of risk assessment scales reduces pressure ulcer incidence and the complexity of the scales does not appear to be warranted.

TL;DR: It is found that prevalence of TRPs is substantially high among patients hospitalized at the internal medicine department and Pharmacists’ interventions contributed substantially to the resolving of many of the identified TRPs.
Abstract: Objectives The aim of this study was to identify the prevalence and characteristics of treatment related problems (TRPs) in hospitalized internal medicine patients in Jordan as well as to identify diseases and drugs associated with each specific TRP. We have also aimed at investigating physicians’ acceptance of recommendations made by clinical pharmacist and to identify the outcomes of pharmacist interventions. Setting Internal medicine department of a general hospital in Jordan. Methods We have utilized a systematic, prospective, bedside, comprehensive clinical assessment approach that allowed us to effectively identify, communicate and follow up TRPs. Main outcome measures: prevalence and nature of identified TRPs, clinical significance of TRPs, associated diseases and drugs and clinical outcomes of clinical pharmacist interventions. Results 402 patients were included in the study. The average number of the identified TRPs was 9.35. Fifty-three percent of identified TRPs were classified as major and 28% were classified as moderate. Ninety-one percent of the recommendations were accepted by physicians. Efficacy related problems were the most common TRP category followed by safety related problems and indication related problems. Sixty-four percent of the TRPs were resolved or prevented through the clinical pharmacist intervention. Conclusions We have found that prevalence of TRPs is substantially high among patients hospitalized at the internal medicine department. TRPs related to Dosage regimens, untreated conditions, patient monitoring, drug interactions, and drug choices were the most common. Most of TRPs identified by pharmacists were clinically significant. Pharmacists’ interventions contributed substantially to the resolving of many of the identified TRPs. Patients suffering from higher number of medical conditions and receiving higher number of medications should be given the priority for clinical pharmacy service in hospitalized internal medicine patients.

01 Jul 2013TL;DR: The main aim of this research is to investigate the role of web portals in improving job performance at the individual level from the perspective of employees as users and found that the developed model explained about 69.6% of the variance in 'job performance'.
Abstract: The main aim of this research is to investigate the role of web portals in improving job performance at the individual level from the perspective of employees as users. This is deemed significant as yet little research has assessed the success of web portals in delivering benefits at the individual level in terms of improved performance in developing countries. The DeLone and McLean IS success model was used as a foundational theory and then was refined to match the context of the current research. In fact, the functions and features of portals were identified, clustered and then linked to portals' quality factors: system quality, information quality, and service quality. Moreover, job performance of employees is measured through task innovation, task productivity, customer satisfaction, and management control. This research follows a case study approach where the phenomenon was examined in the natural setting of the selected company i.e., ProgressSoft in Amman-Jordan, and a survey questionnaire was developed for data collection purposes. Findings have shown that the developed model explained about 69.6% of the variance in 'job performance'.
