TL;DR: The proposed measures and classification models prove that introducing diversity measures dedicated to one-class ensembles is a worthwhile research direction and prove that the proposed models are valuable propositions which can outperform the traditional methods for one- class classification.

TL;DR: In this paper, a photovoltaic absorber antimony selenide Sb2Se3 has been prepared by the commercially attractive close-space sublimation method and its structure, composition, and morphology are studied by x-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and energy dispersive spectroscopy.
Abstract: The candidate photovoltaic absorber antimony selenide Sb2Se3 has been prepared by the commercially attractive close-space sublimation method. Structure, composition, and morphology are studied by x-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and energy dispersive spectroscopy. Large rhubarb-like grains favorable for photovoltaics naturally develop. The temperature-dependence of the direct band gap is determined by photoreflectance between 20 and 320 K and is well described by the Varshni and Bose–Einstein relations, blue-shifting with decreasing temperature from 1.18 to 1.32 eV. The 300 K band gap matches that seen in high quality single-crystal material, while the 0 K gap is consistent with that found in first-principles calculations, further supporting the array of beneficial photovoltaic properties indicated for this material.

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of a fiber addition was examined for three groups of test specimens differing in their fibres and the potential utilization of recycled steel fibres as a substitute for the fibres commonly used to reinforce concrete is investigated and discussed.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used a ten-year history of the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) index to illustrate the excess kurtosis of the stock market, referred to as fat tails or heavy tails.
Abstract: Many of the concepts in theoretical and empirical finance developed over the past decades – including the classical portfolio theory, the Black-Scholes-Merton option pricing model or the RiskMetrics variance-covariance approach to Value at Risk (VaR) – rest upon the assumption that asset returns follow a normal distribution. But this assumption is not justified by empirical data! Rather, the empirical observations exhibit excess kurtosis, more colloquially known as fat tails or heavy tails (Guillaume et al., 1997; Rachev and Mittnik, 2000). The contrast with the Gaussian law can be striking, as in Figure 1.1 where we illustrate this phenomenon using a ten-year history of the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) index.
