A Simple Sequentially Rejective Multiple Test Procedure
TLDR
In this paper, a simple and widely accepted multiple test procedure of the sequentially rejective type is presented, i.e. hypotheses are rejected one at a time until no further rejections can be done.Abstract:
This paper presents a simple and widely ap- plicable multiple test procedure of the sequentially rejective type, i.e. hypotheses are rejected one at a tine until no further rejections can be done. It is shown that the test has a prescribed level of significance protection against error of the first kind for any combination of true hypotheses. The power properties of the test and a number of possible applications are also discussed.read more

Virus–virus interactions impact the population dynamics of influenza and the common cold
Sema Nickbakhsh,Colette Mair,Louise Matthews,Richard Reeve,Paul C. D. Johnson,Fiona Thorburn,Beatrix von Wissmann,Arlene Reynolds,James McMenamin,Rory Gunson,Pablo R. Murcia +10 more
TL;DR: Using computer simulations, it is found that very short-lived interferences may explain why common cold infections are less frequent during flu seasons and transient immune-mediated interference can cause a relatively ubiquitous common cold-like virus to diminish during peak activity of a seasonal virus.

Evolutionary undersampling for classification with imbalanced datasets: Proposals and taxonomy
TL;DR: A set of methods called evolutionary undersampling that take into consideration the nature of the problem and use different fitness functions for getting a good trade-off between balance of distribution of classes and performance are proposed.

The Simes Method for Multiple Hypothesis Testing with Positively Dependent Test Statistics
Sanat K. Sarkar,Chung-Kuei Chang +1 more
TL;DR: The authors showed that for multivariate distributions exhibiting a type of positive dependence that arise in many multiple-hypothesis testing situations, the Simes method indeed controls the probability of type I error.

TL;DR: CPAP use resulted in mild, transient improvement in the most sensitive measures of executive and frontal-lobe function for those with severe disease, which suggests the existence of a complex OSA-neurocognitive relationship.

TL;DR: It is suggested that among children 5 to 17 months of age, the RTS,S vaccine has greater activity against malaria parasites with the matched circumsporozoite protein allele than against mismatched malaria.
