Sialoglycoprotein and carbohydrate complexes in chromium toxicity

TL;DR: Recent research has addressed the molecular characterization of oxoCr(V)-sialoglycoprotein and -carbohydrate complexes and the roles that these species may play in Cr(VI) metabolism and carcinogenesis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Silymarin downregulates COX-2 expression and attenuates hyperlipidemia during NDEA-induced rat hepatocellular carcinoma

TL;DR: It is concluded that compounds like silymarin with potent hypolipidemic effect are strong candidates as chemopreventive agents for the treatment of liver cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI

Use of smokeless tobacco among children and adolescents in the United States

Gayle Boyd
- 01 May 1987 -
TL;DR: The data indicate that large numbers of male youths in many areas of the United States are using smokeless tobacco, and in light of recent research on the health consequences of using tobacco, the health of these youth may be endangered.
Journal ArticleDOI

Occurrence and relevance of chemically induced benign neoplasms in long-term carcinogenicity studies.

TL;DR: In this paper, the frequency of chemically increased incidences of neoplastic responses in one or more of the 524 species-gender experiments was evaluated, usually involving male and female rats and mice, and only 5 of the 143 chemicals studied (3.5%) induced benign neoplasia alone, and those observed benign lesions are known to progress to malignancy.
Journal ArticleDOI

Expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) in oral submucous fibrosis, oral epithelial hyperkeratosis and oral epithelial dysplasia in Taiwan

TL;DR: The gradual increase of PCNA expression with the morphologic transformation of normal epithelial cells into dysplastic epithel cells suggests that there is increased proliferative activity in oral premalignant lesions with disease progression, but no significant correlation was found between PCNA LI in OSF epithelium and the clinicohistologic parameters of OSF.
