Journal ArticleDOI

Carcinogenesis studies: results of 398 experiments on 104 chemicals from the U.S. National Toxicology Program.

TL;DR: Since July 1981, when the U. S. National Cancer Institute (NCI) Bioassay Testing Program was transferred formally to the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) as the lead institute within the NTP, nearly 150 chemicals have been evaluated for toxic and carcinogenic effects in laboratoryAnimals.
Journal ArticleDOI

Zearalenone induces chromosome aberrations in mouse bone marrow: preventive effect of 17β-estradiol, progesterone and Vitamin E

TL;DR: The cytogenetic effect of zearalenone (ZEN), a non-steroidal estrogenic mycotoxin, was evaluated in vivo, in mouse bone marrow cells, by assessing the percentage of cells bearing different chromosome aberrations suggesting that ZEN proceeds by reversible binding on receptors that could become saturated, and that it damages the chromosomes in a 'hit and go' manner.
Journal ArticleDOI

Benzo(a)pyrene induced lung cancer: Role of dietary phytochemicals in chemoprevention.

TL;DR: The present review is attempting to give a silhouette of mechanisms of B(a)P induced lung carcinogenesis and the role of dietary phytochemicals in chemoprevention.
Journal ArticleDOI

Genotoxic effects of ochratoxin A in human-derived hepatoma (HepG2) cells

TL;DR: The results indicate that OTA is clastogenic in the human-derived cells and support the assumption that this mycotoxin may cause genotoxic effects in hepatic tissue of humans.
Journal ArticleDOI

Toxicity of di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate on the anaerobic digestion of wastewater sludge.

TL;DR: The results imply that high levels of DEHP or other recalcitrant PAEs in wastewater sludge are likely to compromise methanogenesis and removal of biodegradablePAEs in sludge digesters.
