Journal ArticleDOI
Chemical carcinogens. A review and analysis of the literature of selected chemicals and the establishment of the Gene-Tox Carcinogen Data Base. A report of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Gene-Tox Program.
Stephen Nesnow,M. Argus,Hinda Bergman,K. Chu,C. Frith,T. Helmes,R. McGaughy,Verne A. Ray,Thomas J. Slaga,Raymond W. Tennant,E. Weisburger +10 more
TL;DR: The literature on 506 selected chemicals has been evaluated for evidence that these chemicals induce tumors in experimental animals and this assessment comprises the Gene-Tox Carcinogen Data Base, which was analyzed and examined according to chemical class.

Induction of anchorage independence in human diploid foreskin fibroblasts by carcinogenic metal salts.
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that carcinogenic metal salts induce stable anchorage independence early in human diploid foreskin fibroblasts, and this anchorage independent is independent of other in vitro markers of fibroblast transformation, such as focus formation or immortality.
Journal ArticleDOI
The enhanced bladder cancer susceptibility of NAT2 slow acetylators towards aromatic amines: a review considering ethnic differences.
TL;DR: In this study, only five of 38 bladder cancer cases occupationally exposed to arylamines were of the slow acetylator genotype, which points to different mechanisms of susceptibility for bladder cancer upon exposure to aromatic amines between European (Caucasian) and Chinese populations.
Journal ArticleDOI
A specific spectrum of p53 mutations in lung cancer from smokers: review of mutations compiled in the IARC p53 database.
TL;DR: Lung cancer from smokers shows a distinct, unique p53 mutation spectrum that is not observed in lung cancer from nonsmokers, and these results further strengthen the association between active smoking, exposure to PAHs, and lung cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Avaliação da contaminação humana por hidrocarbonetos policíclicos aromáticos (hpas) e seus derivados nitrados (nhpas): uma revisão metodológica
Annibal Duarte Pereira Netto,C. Moreira,Ana Elisa,X. O. Dias,Luiz Filipe,Vieira Ferreira,Anabela S. Oliveira,Jiri Barek +7 more
TL;DR: A review of the analytical methodologies used for the determination of polycyclic aromatic hydrocabons and their metabolites in biological samples is presented in this paper, which is an important step for exposure control.
