Journal ArticleDOI

Process-dependent risk of delayed health effects for welders.

TL;DR: The wide variation of health effects found within the industry indicates the need for a standard protocol for future epidemiological studies, as well as for the development of suitable methodologies for experimental risk assessment.
Journal ArticleDOI

Pulmonary Lipid Peroxidation in Cigarette Smokers and Lung Cancer Patients

TL;DR: Enhanced level of prooxidant state in the lungs is associated with recent cigarette smoking, and LC patients may be more prone than respective NLC patients to oxidative stress, and a common free-radical mediated pathway may be active for both LC and small airway obstruction.
Journal ArticleDOI

Occupational exposure to pesticides and cytogenetic damage: Results of a Hungarian population study using the micronucleus assay in lymphocytes and buccal cells

TL;DR: Results from the CBPI analysis showed that the proliferation index decreased with pesticide exposure and that this parameter was also affected by smoking and by the gender of individuals, which suggests a possible genotoxic effect of pesticide exposure.
Journal ArticleDOI

Chronic arsenic-exposed human prostate epithelial cells exhibit stable arsenic tolerance: mechanistic implications of altered cellular glutathione and glutathione S-transferase.

TL;DR: The results indicate that this tolerance in human cells involves increases in GSH levels and GST activity that allow for more efficient arsenic efflux by MRP1 and MDR1.

Toxicological profile for styrene

TL;DR: The ATSDR toxicological profile succinctly characterizes the toxicologic and adverse health effects infonnation for these toxic substances described therein and begins with a public health statement that describes a substance's relevant toxicological properties.
