Arthrodesis after failed knee arthroplasty. A nationwide multicenter investigation of 91 cases.
TL;DR: Removal of all foreign material, eradication of the infectious lesion, and an arthrodesis performed in a one- or two-stage procedure with insertion of gentamicin beads seemed to be the best way to combat infection.

Intra-articular injection for pain relief in patients awaiting hip replacement.
TL;DR: The majority of patients had good pain relief for 1 month but in general this was not maintained and some patients were much worse after the injection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Determinants and sequelae associated with utilization of acetaminophen versus traditional nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs in an elderly population.
TL;DR: Unadjusted rates of GI hospitalization, ulcer, and dyspepsia were higher for patients in the acetaminophen cohort than for those in the NSAID cohort, suggesting acetaminphen utilization is more common in patients at higher risk of GI events.
Journal ArticleDOI
A meta-analysis of controlled clinical studies with diacerein in the treatment of osteoarthritis
TL;DR: Evidence is provided for the symptomatic efficacy of diacerein in the treatment of knee and hip osteoarthritis, with reasonable tolerability, and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs were similarly efficacious during the treatment period.
Journal ArticleDOI
Arthrodesis following failed total knee arthroplasty: comprehensive review and meta-analysis of recent literature.
TL;DR: A statistical meta-analysis of five studies using modern arthrodesis techniques is presented, and a statistically significant greater fusion rate with intramedullary nail arthrodenis compared to external fixation is documented.
