TLDR
In this article, a review of tree physiological responses to key environmental stress factors and their combinations are analyzed from seedlings to mature trees, concluding that combined stresses can influence survival of large trees even more than chronic exposure to a single predictable stress such as drought.

Differences in phytohormone and flavonoid metabolism explain the sex-different responses of Salix rehderiana under drought and nitrogen deposition.

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors investigated the effect of foliar abscisic acid (ABA) levels in male and female Salix rehderiana and found that there was greater transcriptional regulation in males than in females.

Verification of our empirical understanding of the physiology and ecology of two contrasting plantation species using a trait database

TL;DR: In this paper, the major ecological traits, such as foliar gas exchange and nutrients, xylem morphology and drought tolerance, of Cryptomeria japonica and Chamaecyparis obtusa, which are major timber species in East Asia, especially in Japan, by using a recently developed functional trait database for both species (SugiHinokiDB).

Leaf phenology as an indicator of ecological integrity

TL;DR: In this article , the application of phenocams to detect responses to climate change is explored, which can produce near-continuous observations of leaf function in the context of climate change, capturing declines due to disturbance or stress.

Resource-based growth models reveal opportunities to mitigate climate change effects on beech regeneration by silvicultural measures

TL;DR: In this paper , the effects of solar radiation (PHAR), water and nutrient availability on the height growth of artificially (AR) and naturally regenerated (NR) beech seedlings were investigated.

Climate change 2007: the physical science basis

TL;DR: The first volume of the IPCC's Fourth Assessment Report as mentioned in this paper was published in 2007 and covers several topics including the extensive range of observations now available for the atmosphere and surface, changes in sea level, assesses the paleoclimatic perspective, climate change causes both natural and anthropogenic, and climate models for projections of global climate.
