TLDR
In this article, a review of tree physiological responses to key environmental stress factors and their combinations are analyzed from seedlings to mature trees, concluding that combined stresses can influence survival of large trees even more than chronic exposure to a single predictable stress such as drought.

Clonal propagation of Detarium microcarpum and Khaya senegalensis

TL;DR: In this paper, two clonal propagation methods were developed: root cuttings for D. microcarpum and stem cuts for K. senegalensis, and the results showed that root segments of 20 cm length and 15-60 mm diameter were the most successful.

Chemical Characterisation of Boreal Forest AIr with Chromatographic Techniques

TL;DR: In this paper, thermal desorption inlet gas chromatograph coupled with mass spectrometer (TD-GC-MS) was used to determine how monoterpenes, which are one subgroup of the BVOCs, are emitted from Scots pine and Norway spruce trees.

Empirical survival model for European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) seedlings in response to interactive resource gradients and (a-) biotic conditions within an experimental canopy gap study

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of different resource availabilities and their potentially interactive effects on beech seedling survival were investigated in an experimental canopy gap study, where the authors investigated the effect of direct (DIRSF) and diffuse (DIFFSF) solar radiation, soil fertility, groundwater influence, micro-site elevation, vegetation and root competition of overstorey trees on the survival of beech seeds.

Exogenous application of methyl jasmonate alters Pinus resinosa seedling response to simulated frost

TL;DR: This work indicates that secondary responses via MeJA induction can alter tree seedling response to cold and may help explain natural patterns of variation in plant performance, and be leveraged to facilitate agricultural plant tolerance to physical stresses under increasingly variable climate conditions.

Climate change 2007: the physical science basis

TL;DR: The first volume of the IPCC's Fourth Assessment Report as mentioned in this paper was published in 2007 and covers several topics including the extensive range of observations now available for the atmosphere and surface, changes in sea level, assesses the paleoclimatic perspective, climate change causes both natural and anthropogenic, and climate models for projections of global climate.

Chlorophyll fluorescence—a practical guide

TL;DR: An introduction for the novice into the methodology and applications of chlorophyll fluorescence is provided and a selection of examples are used to illustrate the types of information that fluorescence can provide.
