Journal ArticleDOI

Hepatoprotective effect of chrysin on prooxidant-antioxidant status during ethanol-induced toxicity in female albino rats.

TL;DR: The effect of chrysin, a natural, biologically active compound extracted from many plants, honey and propolis, on the tissue and circulatory antioxidant status, and lipid peroxidation in ethanol‐induced hepatotoxicity in rats is evaluated.
Journal Article

Effect of ellagic acid, a natural polyphenol, on alcohol-induced prooxidant and antioxidant imbalance: a drug dose dependent study.

TL;DR: The study provides the antioxidant and cytoprotective properties of EA at a dose of 60 mg/kg body weight against oxidative stress induced by alcohol.
Journal ArticleDOI

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon-DNA adducts in smokers and their relationship to micronutrient levels and the glutathione-S-transferase M1 genotype.

TL;DR: PAH-DNA adducts were inversely associated with serum cholesterol-adjusted vitamin E levels and with smoking- adjusted vitamin C serum levels, consistent with findings of prior epidemiological studies identifying significant inverse associations between anti-oxidant micronutrient status or GSTM1 genotype and the incidence of lung cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI

Vitamin C in the human stomach: relation to gastric pH, gastroduodenal disease, and possible sources.

TL;DR: The findings suggest that the low fasting levels of vitamin C in hypochlorhydric gastric juice may be caused by chemical instability and that vitamin C may be secreted by the human stomach.
