Journal ArticleDOI

Spectrophotometric determination of ascorbic acid in pharmaceuticals by background correction and flow injection.

TL;DR: The proposed flow injection method yielded results for the analysis of 0-20 micrograms ml(-1) of ascorbic acid that were 99-102% (relative standard deviation 0.6% or better) in agreement with those produced by comparable methods involving titration with iodine, chloranil or 2,6-dichlorophenolindophenol, and high-performance liquid chromatography.
Journal ArticleDOI

Postoperative nasogastric tube feeding in patients with head and neck cancer: a prospective assessment of nutritional status and well-being

TL;DR: Assessment of the psychosocial impact of the nasogastric tube feeding regimen revealed gastro-intestinal complaints in a minority, and feelings of being deprived of the act of eating and drinking in the majority of patients, suggesting diminished muscle protein breakdown, even in the presence of an ample nutritional supply of energy and protein.

Plasma non-enzymatic antioxidants-vitamin C, E, beta-carotenes, reduced glutathione levels and total antioxidant activity in oral sub mucous fibrosis.

TL;DR: A very low levels of plasma non-enzymatic antioxidants and at the same time a very poor antioxidant activity are observed in OSMF patients when compared to controls.
Journal ArticleDOI

Study of the pituitary—testicular axis in hypothyroid adult male rats

Vilchez-Martinez Ja
- 01 Oct 1973 -
TL;DR: Chronic hypothyroidism induced in adult male rats by 131I did not modify the testicular function, as revealed by the unchanged weight of testes, ventral prostate and seminal vesicles and normal testicular morphology.
Journal ArticleDOI

Modulating efficacy of Rebaudioside A, a diterpenoid on antioxidant and circulatory lipids in experimental diabetic rats.

TL;DR: Oral administration of Reb A brought back plasma glucose, insulin, lipid peroxidation products, enzymatic, non-enzymatic antioxidants and lipid profile levels to near normal and suggests that Reb A, a natural sweetener exhibits antilipid peroxidative, antihyperlipidemic and antioxidant properties.
