Journal ArticleDOI
Pesticide-induced changes in hepatic microsomal enzyme systems. Some effects of 1,1-DI(p-chlorophenyl)-2,2,2-trichloroethane (DDT) and 1,1-DI(p-chlorophenyl)-2,2-dichloroethylene (DDE) in the rat and Japanese quail.
TL;DR: It is suggested that DDE is a more potent inducer of microsomal protein, cytochrome P-450 and aniline hydroxylase in both species, than DDT fed at the same level, and the effects of DDT were best expressed in terms of the resulting DDE residue levels.
Journal ArticleDOI
Diosmin, a bioflavonoid reverses alterations in blood pressure, nitric oxide, lipid peroxides and antioxidant status in DOCA-salt induced hypertensive rats
TL;DR: It is shown that diosmin acts as an antihypertensive agent against DOCA-salt induced hypertension, in which 50 mg/kg body weight showed the highest effect than that of other two doses.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Health and Nutritional Status of Alaskan Eskimos A Survey of the Interdepartmental Committee on Nutrition for National Defense—1958

Kettlecamp,Ruth Coffin,Isabelle V. Griffith,A. J. Pitney,L. Sikes,Carl L. White,D. O. Starr,H. G. Coffman,R. J. Murphy +19 more
TL;DR: The present study was undertaken to investigate the adaptation of the Eskimo to a uniquely limited and precarious food supply in a harsh environment and to consider the necessity of remedial action.

Impact of ursolic acid on chronic ethanol-induced oxidative stress in the rat heart.
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that ursolic acid acts as a protective agent against ethanol-induced abnormalities in the heart by reducing the lipid peroxidation process and by enhancing the antioxidant capacity.
