Prevalence of Obesity in India and Its Neurological Implications: A Multifactor Analysis of a Nationwide Cross-Sectional Study.

TL;DR: Obesity levels in India are very high, across all zones, and the odds of being obese increases with age, and is higher among women and among urban dwellers.

Weight status change from childhood to early adulthood and the risk of adult hypertension.

TL;DR: Overweight/obesity in early adulthood was associated with adult hypertension irrespective of weight status in childhood, and the risk of adult hypertension could be reversed if overweight/obese children become normal weight adults.

Fatty Acid Profile of Mature Red Blood Cell Membranes and Dietary Intake as a New Approach to Characterize Children with Overweight and Obesity.

TL;DR: The fatty acid (FA) profile of red blood cell (RBC) membranes as a comprehensive biomarker of children’s obesity metabolism, together with the evaluation of their dietary intake, was determined.
Journal ArticleDOI

Association between dietary mineral nutrient intake, body mass index, and waist circumference in U.S. adults using quantile regression analysis NHANES 2007-2014.

TL;DR: The results suggested that the mineral nutrient intakes were associated with BMI and WC in American adults, however, the longitudinal effects of mineral intakes and obesity need to be studied.
Journal ArticleDOI

Early life exposure to air pollution, green spaces and built environment, and body mass index growth trajectories during the first 5 years of life: A large longitudinal study.

TL;DR: It is suggested that early life exposure to air pollution, green space and built environment characteristics may be associated with small changes in BMI growth trajectories during the first years of life, and that it is important to account for multiple exposures in urban settings.

Establishing a standard definition for child overweight and obesity worldwide: international survey

TL;DR: The proposed cut off points, which are less arbitrary and more internationally based than current alternatives, should help to provide internationally comparable prevalence rates of overweight and obesity in children.

TL;DR: The global, regional, and national prevalence of overweight and obesity in children and adults during 1980-2013 is estimated using a spatiotemporal Gaussian process regression model to estimate prevalence with 95% uncertainty intervals (UIs).

Development of a WHO growth reference for school-aged children and adolescents

TL;DR: The new curves are closely aligned with the WHO Child Growth Standards at 5 years, and the recommended adult cut-offs for overweight and obesity at 19 years.

Maternal and child undernutrition and overweight in low-income and middle-income countries

TL;DR: It is estimated that undernutrition in the aggregate--including fetal growth restriction, stunting, wasting, and deficiencies of vitamin A and zinc along with suboptimum breastfeeding--is a cause of 3·1 million child deaths annually or 45% of all child deaths in 2011.
