Journal ArticleDOI
Dietary omega-3 fatty acids and endothelium-dependent responses in porcine cerebral arteries.
TL;DR: Dietary supplementation with ω-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids enhances endotheliumdependent relaxations in the basilar artery by two mechanisms: 1) replacement of endogenous arachidonic acid and suppression of the concomitant release of vasoconstrictor prostaglandins from the endothelia, and 2) enhancement of the release of endot Helium-derived relaxing factor.
Journal ArticleDOI
ROS and endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS)-dependent trafficking of angiotensin II type 2 receptor begets neuronal NOS in cardiac myocytes
Ji Hyun Jang,Jung Nyeo Chun,Shigeo Godo,Guangyu Wu,Hiroaki Shimokawa,Chun Zi Jin,Ju Hong Jeon,Sung Joon Kim,Zhe Hu Jin,Yin Hua Zhang,Yin Hua Zhang +10 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated, for the first time, that Ang II upregulates nNOS protein expression and activity via AT1R/ROS/eNOS-dependent S-nitrosation and membrane translocation of AT2R.
Journal ArticleDOI
Reactive Oxygen Species Promote Vascular Smooth Muscle Cell Proliferation
TL;DR: It has been elucidated that the excess amount of ROS (oxidative stress) promotes VSMC proliferation and potentially develops cardiovascular diseases.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nitric oxide exerts protective effects against bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis in mice
Shingo Noguchi,Kazuhiro Yatera,Ke-Yong Wang,Keishi Oda,Kentarou Akata,Kei Yamasaki,Toshinori Kawanami,Hiroshi Ishimoto,Yumiko Toyohira,Hiroaki Shimokawa,Nobuyuki Yanagihara,Masato Tsutsui,Hiroshi Mukae +12 more
TL;DR: These results provide the first direct evidence that a lack of all three NOS isoforms led to a deterioration of pulmonary fibrosis in a BLM-treated murine model.
Journal ArticleDOI
Combination Therapy with Atorvastatin and Amlodipine Suppresses Angiotensin II-Induced Aortic Aneurysm Formation
Kikuyo Takahashi,Yasuharu Matsumoto,Zhulanqiqige Do.e,Masanori Kanazawa,Kimio Satoh,Takuya Shimizu,Akira Sato,Yoshihiro Fukumoto,Hiroaki Shimokawa +8 more
TL;DR: Rho-kinase is up-regulated in the aortic wall of human AAA as compared with abdominal aorta from control subjects and the combination therapy with amlodipine and Atorvastatin, but not each monotherapy, suppresses AngII-induced AAA formation in mice in vivo.
