Journal ArticleDOI
The selective Rho-kinase inhibitor Fasudil is protective and therapeutic in experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis.
Xiaojia Sun,Motozumi Minohara,Hitoshi Kikuchi,Takaaki Ishizu,Masahito Tanaka,Hua Piao,Manabu Osoegawa,Yasumasa Ohyagi,Hiroaki Shimokawa,Jun Ichi Kira +9 more
TL;DR: Both parenteral and oral administration of fasudil prevented the development of EAE induced by proteolipid protein (PLP) p139-151 in SJL/J mice, which may provide a rationale of selective blockade of Rho-kinase by oral use of f as a new therapy for multiple sclerosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Therapeutic Potential of Rho-Kinase Inhibitors in Cardiovascular Diseases
TL;DR: Evidence from in vitro and in vivo studies suggests that Rho-kinase inhibitors have beneficial effects on cardiovascular diseases, particularly arteriosclerosis and coronary vasospasm, and further studies are needed to define the therapeutic potential of RHo-kinases inhibitors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Development of genetically engineered mice lacking all three nitric oxide synthases.
TL;DR: In this article, the authors have successfully developed mice in which all three NOS genes are completely disrupted and showed that arteriosclerosis is spontaneously developed with a clustering of cardiovascular risk factors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Whole-brain low-intensity pulsed ultrasound therapy markedly improves cognitive dysfunctions in mouse models of dementia - Crucial roles of endothelial nitric oxide synthase
Kumiko Eguchi,Tomohiko Shindo,Kenta Ito,Tsuyoshi Ogata,Ryo Kurosawa,Yutaka Kagaya,Yuto Monma,Sadamitsu Ichijo,Sachie Kasukabe,Satoshi Miyata,Takeo Yoshikawa,Kazuhiko Yanai,Hirofumi Taki,Hiroshi Kanai,Noriko Osumi,Hiroaki Shimokawa +15 more
TL;DR: Results indicate that the whole-brain LIPUS is an effective and non-invasive therapy for dementia by activating specific cells corresponding to each pathology, for which eNOS activation plays an important role as a common mechanism.
Journal ArticleDOI
Statin Treatment Upregulates Vascular Neuronal Nitric Oxide Synthase Through Akt/NF-κB Pathway
Sei Nakata,Masato Tsutsui,Hiroaki Shimokawa,Takahiro Yamashita,Akihide Tanimoto,Hiromi Tasaki,Kiyoshi Ozumi,Ken Sabanai,Tsuyoshi Morishita,Osamu Suda,Hideyasu Hirano,Yasuyuki Sasaguri,Yasuhide Nakashima,Nobuyuki Yanagihara +13 more
TL;DR: Results indicate that atorvastatin upregulates vascular nNOS through Akt/NF-&kgr;B pathway, demonstrating a novel nN OS-mediated vascular effect of the statin.
