Multi-omic analysis along the gut-brain axis points to a functional architecture of autism

TL;DR: An age and sex-matched Bayesian differential ranking algorithm identified autism-specific profiles across 10 cross-sectional microbiome datasets and 15 other omic datasets, including dietary patterns, metabolomics, cytokine profiles, and human brain expression profiles that uncovered a highly significant, functional architecture along the GBA that encapsulated the overall heterogeneity of autism phenotypes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Limited microbiome differences in captive and semi-wild primate populations consuming similar diets.

TL;DR: Although it was found that location was a significant predictor of gut microbial composition, the magnitude of observed differences was relatively small, suggesting that a shared diet may limit the typical influence of environmental microbial exposure on the gut microbiota.
Journal ArticleDOI

Culturing: Looking it up in our gut

TL;DR: A new, publicly available, collection of cultured bacterial species from the mouse gut, the Mouse Intestinal Bacterial Collection, opens up opportunities for deepening microbiome research.
