Gut microbiome composition in the Hispanic Community Health Study/Study of Latinos is shaped by geographic relocation, environmental factors, and obesity.
Robert C. Kaplan,Robert C. Kaplan,Zheng Wang,Mykhaylo Usyk,Daniela Sotres-Alvarez,Martha L. Daviglus,Neil Schneiderman,Gregory A. Talavera,Marc D. Gellman,Bharat Thyagarajan,Jee-Young Moon,Yoshiki Vázquez-Baeza,Daniel McDonald,Jessica Williams-Nguyen,Michael C. Wu,Kari E. North,Justin P. Shaffer,Christopher C. Sollecito,Qibin Qi,Carmen R. Isasi,Tao Wang,Rob Knight,Robert D. Burk +22 more
TL;DR: The analysis of the gut microbiome of Latinos demonstrates unique features that might be responsible for health disparities affecting Hispanics living in the USA.
Journal ArticleDOI
Spatial deficits in ideomotor limb apraxia. A kinematic analysis of aiming movements.
TL;DR: Kinematic analyses of simple aiming movements in left hemisphere-damaged patients with and without limb apraxia and a normal control group show that the deficits demonstrated in the apraxic group are not simply a reflection of left hemisphere damage per se, suggesting disruption of the neural representations for the extrapersonal and hand position features of movement.
Journal ArticleDOI
Microbiota at Multiple Body Sites during Pregnancy in a Rural Tanzanian Population and Effects of Moringa-Supplemented Probiotic Yogurt
Jordan E. Bisanz,Jordan E. Bisanz,Megan K. Enos,Megan K. Enos,George PrayGod,Shannon Seney,Jean M. Macklaim,Jean M. Macklaim,Stephanie N. Chilton,Stephanie N. Chilton,Dana Willner,Rob Knight,Christoph Fusch,Gerhard Fusch,Gregory B. Gloor,Gregory B. Gloor,Jeremy P. Burton,Jeremy P. Burton,Gregor Reid,Gregor Reid +19 more
TL;DR: Daily micronutrient-supplemented probiotic yogurt provides a safe, affordable food for pregnant women in rural Tanzania, and the resultant improvement in the gut microbial profile of infants is worthy of further study.
Journal ArticleDOI
Gut microbiome and magnetic resonance spectroscopy study of subjects at ultra-high risk for psychosis may support the membrane hypothesis
Ying He,Tomasz Kosciolek,Jinsong Tang,Yao Zhou,Zongchang Li,Xiaoqian Ma,Qiyun Zhu,Ning Yuan,Liu Yuan,Chunwang Li,Ke Jin,Rob Knight,Ming T. Tsuang,Xiaogang Chen +13 more
TL;DR: Both gut microbiome and imaging studies of UHR subjects suggest the membrane dysfunction in the brain and hence might support the membrane hypothesis of schizophrenia.
Journal ArticleDOI
mockrobiota: a Public Resource for Microbiome Bioinformatics Benchmarking
Nicholas A. Bokulich,Jai Ram Rideout,William G. Mercurio,Arron Shiffer,Benjamin E. Wolfe,Corinne F. Maurice,Rachel J. Dutton,Peter J. Turnbaugh,Rob Knight,J. Gregory Caporaso +9 more
TL;DR: This work presents mockrobiota, a public resource for sharing, validating, and documenting mock community data resources, and outlines its intended expansion and evolve to meet the changing needs of the omics community.
