TL;DR: This paper shows that the alternating direction method (ADM) is applicable for completing a low-rank matrix including the noiseless case, the noisy case and the positive semidefinite case.
Abstract: The matrix completion problem is to complete an unknown matrix from a small number of entries, and it captures many applications in diversified areas. Recently, it was shown that completing a low-rank matrix can be successfully accomplished by solving its convex relaxation problem using the nuclear norm. This paper shows that the alternating direction method (ADM) is applicable for completing a low-rank matrix including the noiseless case, the noisy case and the positive semidefinite case. The ADM approach for the matrix completion problem is easily implementable and very efficient. Numerical comparisons of the ADM approach with some state-of-the-art methods are reported.

TL;DR: This is the first study to reveal the cache properties of Kepler and Maxwell GPUs, and the superiority of Maxwell in shared memory performance under bank conflict.
Abstract: Memory access efficiency is a key factor in fully utilizing the computational power of graphics processing units (GPUs). However, many details of the GPU memory hierarchy are not released by GPU vendors. In this paper, we propose a novel fine-grained microbenchmarking approach and apply it to three generations of NVIDIA GPUs, namely Fermi, Kepler, and Maxwell, to expose the previously unknown characteristics of their memory hierarchies. Specifically, we investigate the structures of different GPU cache systems, such as the data cache, the texture cache and the translation look-aside buffer (TLB). We also investigate the throughput and access latency of GPU global memory and shared memory. Our microbenchmark results offer a better understanding of the mysterious GPU memory hierarchy, which will facilitate the software optimization and modelling of GPU architectures. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study to reveal the cache properties of Kepler and Maxwell GPUs, and the superiority of Maxwell in shared memory performance under bank conflict.

TL;DR: In this article, a validated Retail Service Quality Scale is used to study the service quality delivery of a department store chain and its impact on consumption behavior, and the findings show that the impact of physical appearance and the policy are salient on the overall perceived service quality and the future shopping behaviour respectively.
Abstract: Current measures of service quality for retail stores are scarce. A validated Retail Service Quality Scale is used to study the service quality delivery of a department store chain and its impact on consumption behaviour. It results in six dimensions; they are namely: personal interaction; policy; physical appearance; promises; problem solving; and convenience. The findings show that the impact of physical appearance and the policy are salient on the overall perceived service quality and the future shopping behaviour respectively. Among the six service dimensions, the physical appearance and policy have the greatest impact on the overall service quality and on future consumption respectively. The implications for practitioners and researchers are discussed.

TL;DR: This article investigates recent research work and applications that integrate RFID with sensor networks, and four classes of integration are discussed: integrating tags with sensors, integrating tagged with WSN nodes and wireless devices, integrating readers with W SN nodes and mobile devices, and a mix of RFID and WSNs.
Abstract: Radio frequency identification and wireless sensor networks are two important wireless technologies that have a wide variety of applications in current and future systems. RFID facilitates detection and identification of objects that are not easily detectable or distinguishable by using conventional sensor technologies. However, it does not provide information about the condition of the objects it detects. WSN, on the other hand, not only provides information about the condition of the objects and environment but also enables multihop wireless communications. Hence, the integration of these technologies expands their overall functionality and capacity. This article investigates recent research work and applications that integrate RFID with sensor networks. Four classes of integration are discussed: integrating tags with sensors, integrating tags with WSN nodes and wireless devices, integrating readers with WSN nodes and wireless devices, and a mix of RFID and WSNs. Finally, a discussion of new challenges and future work is presented.
