TL;DR: In this article, the impact of corporate governance on operating performance and share performance of companies traded in Borsa Istanbul for the period 2007-2014 is analyzed, where the authors assume that we buy and hold the stock for 1 year and sell it at the end of the accounting period to match it with the accounting data.
Abstract: Corporate governance principles are trying to ensure reliable and well functioning firms and sound financial systems, thus well-governed firms are expected to be performing better than their counterparts. The aim of this paper is to analyze the impact of corporate governance applications on operating performance and share performance of companies that are traded in Borsa Istanbul for the period 2007-2014. In order to understand the impact of corporate governance traits on share performance, we assume that we buy and hold the stock for 1 year and sell it at the end of the accounting period to match it with the accounting data and panel regressions are run to analyze the factors that have significant explanatory power over operating and share performance. According to the results, the corporate governance traits do not affect stock returns, but have a significant explanatory power over operating performance, measured by ROA and ROE. This divergence shows that good governance results with superior operating performance, however governance benefits are not priced by the investors. The paper has significant implications since it analyses one of the most attractive emerging equity markets, namely Borsa Istanbul which has approximately sixty percent share of foreign investors. The results are important for both policy makers and for the broad range of investors that are players in the market.

01 Jan 2021TL;DR: In this paper, a Binary Genetic Algorithm (BGA) with an external archive for the multi-objective multi-dimensional knapsack problem (BOMDKP) was proposed.
Abstract: The multi-dimensional knapsack problem (MDKP) is a well-known NP-hard problem in combinatorial optimization. As it has various real-life applications, the MDKP has been intensively studied in the literature. On the other hand, far too little attention has been paid to the multi-objective version of the MDKP. In this chapter, we consider the bi-objective multi-dimensional knapsack problem (BOMDKP). We propose a Binary Genetic Algorithm (BGA) with an external archive for the problem. Our proposed BGA algorithm also employs a binary local search. The non-dominated solution sets are obtained for various bi-objective benchmark instances with 100, 250, 500 and 750 items, by employing the proposed BGA. Then, the performance of the BGA is compared with other multi-objective algorithms from the literature, i.e., MOEA/D and MOFPA. Furthermore, it is observed that the Pareto-optimal solution set provided by Zitzler and Laumans for 500 items and 2 knapsacks includes 30 dominated solutions. Also, the Pareto-optimal solutions for the scenario with 750 items are not reported in Zitzler and Thiele [43]. Hence, the true Pareto-optimal solution sets are found for all benchmark problem instances using Improved Augmented Epsilon Constraint (AUGMECON2) method. The non-dominated solution sets of the BGA, MOEA/D and MOFPA are compared with the Pareto-optimal solution sets for all test instances. The computational results indicate that the proposed BGA is more effective to solve the BOMDKP than the best-performing algorithms from the literature.

TL;DR: The concepts of smart city, digital city and intelligent city are the concepts put forward to solve the problems caused by the urban developing world as discussed by the authors, which can also be seen as units that work on different strategies and models due to fast living, environmental, social and economic problems.
Abstract: . The modern world is fast in many ways and a place where technological innovations can be adapted immediately. This speed and technological progress can be seen as a kind of development. It has positive as well as negative aspects. Economic and social problems, population growth, consumption of resources, high energy use, environmental pollution and climate change are negative phenomena brought by the modern world. Cities can also be seen as units that work on different strategies and models due to fast living, environmental, social and economic problems. Especially developing urban technology, the increase in the population rate in the cities and environmental problems have led to the development and discussion of many terms and concepts in the architecture and design literature in the urbanization process. The word and concept accumulation they possess is too much to ignore. The concepts of smart city, digital city and intelligent city are the concepts put forward to solve the problems caused by the urban developing world. These three concepts are based on the use of urban technology and they are either confused with each other or their boundaries are not determined too much. In this study, while determining the boundaries of these concepts, which have a lot in common with each other, similarities and differences between the concepts were revealed and suggestions were made regarding the definitions of the concepts.

TL;DR: The author proves some theorems connecting weak subdifferential in nonsmooth and nonconvex analysis and obtained necessary optimality condition by using the weak sub differential in this paper.
Abstract: Some properties of the weak subdifferential are considered in this paper. By using the definition and properties of the weak subdifferential which are described in the papers (Azimov and Gasimov, 1999; Kasimbeyli and Mammadov, 2009; Kasimbeyli and Inceoglu, 2010), the author proves some theorems connecting weak subdifferential in nonsmooth and nonconvex analysis. It is also obtained necessary optimality condition by using the weak subdifferential in this paper.
