Defective circulating and intrahepatic B cells in chronic HBV
TL;DR: In this article, global and antigen-specific B cells were characterised directly ex vivo from the blood and liver of patients with chronic hepatitis B virus (CHB) infection, and they demonstrated altered signalling, homing, differentiation into antibody-producing cells, survival and antiviral cytokine production, that could be partially rescued by PD-1 blockade.

Tumor necrosis factor-α-induced protein 8-like 2 (TIPE2) is associated with immune phases of patients with chronic hepatitis B
TL;DR: Fan et al. as mentioned in this paper determined the mRNA levels of TIPE2, interleukin-6, IL-10, tumor necrosis factors-α and interferon-γ in peripheral blood mononuclear cells from 205 naive treated chronic hepatitis B patients and 15 healthy controls by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction.

Measuring inconsistency in meta-analyses
TL;DR: A new quantity is developed, I 2, which the authors believe gives a better measure of the consistency between trials in a meta-analysis, which is susceptible to the number of trials included in the meta- analysis.

Risk of hepatocellular carcinoma across a biological gradient of serum hepatitis B virus DNA level.

TL;DR: Elevated serum HBV DNA level (> or =10,000 copies/mL) is a strong risk predictor of hepatocellular carcinoma independent of HBeAg, serum alanine aminotransferase level, and liver cirrhosis.

The contributions of hepatitis B virus and hepatitis C virus infections to cirrhosis and primary liver cancer worldwide
TL;DR: HBV and HCV infections account for the majority of cirrhosis and primary liver cancer throughout most of the world, highlighting the need for programs to prevent new infections and provide medical management and treatment for those already infected.

Hepatocellular carcinoma in cirrhosis: incidence and risk factors.
TL;DR: Further studies are needed to investigate other viral factors (eg, HBV genotype/mutant, occult HBV, HIV coinfection) and preventable or treatable comorbidities ( eg, obesity, diabetes) in the HCC risk in cirrhosis.
