Retro-orbital injections in mice.

TLDR
The authors report that they have routinely used retro-orbital injection of the venous sinus in the adult mouse to administer volumes up to 150 μl without incident and this technique is a useful alternative to tail vein injection for the administration of non-tumorigenic compounds.
Abstract
Intravenous vascular access is technically challenging in the adult mouse and even more challenging in neonatal mice. The authors describe the technique of retro-orbital injection of the venous sinus in the adult and neonatal mouse. This technique is a useful alternative to tail vein injection for the administration of non-tumorigenic compounds. The authors report that they have routinely used this technique in the adult mouse to administer volumes up to 150 μl without incident. Administration of retro-orbital injections is more challenging in neonatal mice but can reliably deliver volumes up to 10 μl.

Hydrophobic Effect from Conjugated Chemicals or Drugs on In Vivo Biodistribution of RNA Nanoparticles

TL;DR: This study examined how the hydrophobicity of chemicals conjugated to RNA nanoparticles affect in vivo biodistribution and provided new insights for handling drug insolubility, therapeutic toxicity, and organ clearance in drug development.

Sex-Dependent Macromolecule and Nanoparticle Delivery in Experimental Brain Injury

TL;DR: A sex-dependent temporal profile of blood/brain barrier disruption in a preclinical mouse model of traumatic brain injury (TBI) that contributes to starkly different macromolecule and nanoparticle delivery profiles post-TBI is identified.

In vivo assessment of specific cytotoxic T lymphocyte killing

TL;DR: A method to evaluate in vivo specific cytotoxic T lymphocyte killing with model system mice immunized with human recombinant replication-deficient adenovirus 5 containing different transgenes as the trigger of a CTL-mediated immune response is described and discussed.

Comparison of Cesium-137 and X-ray Irradiators by Using Bone Marrow Transplant Reconstitution in C57BL/6J Mice

TL;DR: Although both sources ablated endogenous bone marrow sufficiently to enable stem cell engraftment, there are distinct physiologic responses that should be considered when choosing the optimal source for use in a study and that irradiation from the (137)Cs source was associated with lower overall morbidity due to opportunistic infection.

Evaluation of Cobalt-Labeled Octreotide Analogs for Molecular Imaging and Auger Electron–Based Radionuclide Therapy

TL;DR: Evaluated cobalt-labeled octreotide analogs targeting the somatostatin receptor showed considerable therapeutic effects in vitro and, thus, could be an effective agent for eradicating disseminated tumor cells and micrometastases.

Mammalian Mst1 and Mst2 kinases play essential roles in organ size control and tumor suppression

TL;DR: It is found that Mst1 and Mst2, the two mouse homologs of the Drosophila Hpo, control the sizes of some, but not all organs, in mice, and MSt1 andMst2 act as tumor suppressors by restricting cell proliferation and survival.

Optimal Germinal Center Responses Require a Multistage T Cell:B Cell Adhesion Process Involving Integrins, SLAM-Associated Protein, and CD84

TL;DR: The results reveal insight into the dynamic regulation of T cell:B cell interactions and identify SLAM family members as critical components of sustained T cell-B cell adhesion required for productive humoral immunity.
