Retro-orbital injections in mice.
TLDR
The authors report that they have routinely used retro-orbital injection of the venous sinus in the adult mouse to administer volumes up to 150 μl without incident and this technique is a useful alternative to tail vein injection for the administration of non-tumorigenic compounds.Abstract:
Intravenous vascular access is technically challenging in the adult mouse and even more challenging in neonatal mice. The authors describe the technique of retro-orbital injection of the venous sinus in the adult and neonatal mouse. This technique is a useful alternative to tail vein injection for the administration of non-tumorigenic compounds. The authors report that they have routinely used this technique in the adult mouse to administer volumes up to 150 μl without incident. Administration of retro-orbital injections is more challenging in neonatal mice but can reliably deliver volumes up to 10 μl.read more

Retrobulbar Sinus Injection of Doxorubicin is More Efficient Than Lateral Tail Vein Injection at Inducing Experimental Nephrotic Syndrome in Mice: A Pilot Study:
Bernhard N. Bohnert,Thomas Dörffel,Sophie Daiminger,Carsten Calaminus,Sandro Aidone,Almuth Falkenau,Antje Semrau,Mai J Le,Franz Iglauer,Ferruh Artunc +9 more
TL;DR: It was concluded that doxorubicin administration via either lateral tail vein or retrobulbar sinus injections led to a similar induction of histopathological changes with no effects on the clinical well-being of the mice.

Myocardial contrast echocardiography assessment of mouse myocardial infarction: comparison of kinetic parameters with conventional methods.
TL;DR: In this article, size-isolated microbubbles were injected via retro-orbital catheter where their nonlinear characteristics were utilized to produce the two-dimensional parameters of Wash-in-Rate and the Peak Enhancement, indicative of relative myocardial perfusion and blood volume, respectively.

Mammalian Mst1 and Mst2 kinases play essential roles in organ size control and tumor suppression
Hai Song,Kinglun Kingston Mak,Lilia Topol,Kangsun Yun,Jianxin Hu,Lisa Garrett,Yongbin Chen,Ogyi Park,Jia Chang,R. Mark Simpson,Cun-Yu Wang,Bin Gao,Jin Jiang,Yingzi Yang +13 more
TL;DR: It is found that Mst1 and Mst2, the two mouse homologs of the Drosophila Hpo, control the sizes of some, but not all organs, in mice, and MSt1 andMst2 act as tumor suppressors by restricting cell proliferation and survival.
