Antibacterial and conductive injectable hydrogels based on quaternized chitosan-graft-polyaniline/oxidized dextran for tissue engineering
TL;DR: A new series of in situ forming antibacterial conductive degradable hydrogels using quaternized chitosan (QCS) grafted polyaniline with oxidized dextran as crosslinker is developed as a new class of bioactive scaffolds for tissue regeneration applications.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cell sheet engineering
Masayuki Yamato,Teruo Okano +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, temperature-responsive polymers are covalently grafted onto the dishes, allowing various types of cells to adhere and proliferate at 37°C. The cells spontaneously detach when the temperature is reduced below 32°C without the need for proteolytic enzymes.
Journal ArticleDOI
3D Bioprinting for Tissue and Organ Fabrication
Yu Shrike Zhang,Yu Shrike Zhang,Kan Yue,Kan Yue,Julio Aleman,Julio Aleman,Kamyar Mollazadeh-Moghaddam,Kamyar Mollazadeh-Moghaddam,Syeda Mahwish Bakht,Syeda Mahwish Bakht,Syeda Mahwish Bakht,Jingzhou Yang,Jingzhou Yang,Jingzhou Yang,Weitao Jia,Weitao Jia,Weitao Jia,Valeria Dell’Erba,Valeria Dell’Erba,Valeria Dell’Erba,Pribpandao Assawes,Pribpandao Assawes,Su Ryon Shin,Su Ryon Shin,Mehmet R. Dokmeci,Mehmet R. Dokmeci,Rahmi Oklu,Ali Khademhosseini +27 more
TL;DR: 3D bioprinting offers unprecedented versatility to co-deliver cells and biomaterials with precise control over their compositions, spatial distributions, and architectural accuracy, therefore achieving detailed or even personalized recapitulation of the fine shape, structure, and architecture of target tissues and organs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Medical applications of membranes: Drug delivery, artificial organs and tissue engineering
Dimitrios Stamatialis,Bernke J. Papenburg,Miriam Girones,Saiful Saiful,N.M. Srivatsa Bettahalli,Stephanie Schmitmeier,Matthias Wessling +6 more
TL;DR: This review shows the important role of membrane science and technology in medical applications but also highlights the importance of collaboration of membrane scientists with others (biologists, bioengineers, medical doctors, etc.) in order to address the complicated challenges in this field.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mechanical and microstructural properties of polycaprolactone scaffolds with one-dimensional, two-dimensional, and three-dimensional orthogonally oriented porous architectures produced by selective laser sintering.
Shaun Eshraghi,Suman Das +1 more
TL;DR: Finite element analysis showed good agreement between experimental and computed effective tensile and compressive moduli and the construction of bone tissue engineering scaffolds endowed with oriented porous architectures and with predictable mechanical properties through SLS is demonstrated.
