Journal ArticleDOI
Gene delivery from polymer scaffolds for tissue engineering
TL;DR: The design and application of tissue engineering scaffolds for localized gene transfer are reviewed, and scaffolds capable of controlled DNA delivery can provide a fundamental tool for directing progenitor cell function, which has applications with the engineering of numerous types of tissue.
Journal ArticleDOI
Covalent Microcontact Printing of Proteins for Cell Patterning
Dorota I. Rozkiewicz,Yvonne M. Kraan,Marc W. T. Werten,Frits A. de Wolf,Vinod Subramaniam,Bart Jan Ravoo,David N. Reinhoudt +6 more
TL;DR: A straightforward approach to the covalent immobilization of cytophilic proteins by microcontact printing, which can be used to pattern cells on substrates, is described and the scope of controlled surface chemistry to direct cell adhesion is demonstrated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nanocomposite hydrogels for tissue engineering applications
TL;DR: Nanocomposite hydrogels, with its advantages of high mechanical property and some unique properties, have emerged as the most versatile and innovative technology, which provides a new opportunity as a unique tool for fabricating hydrogel with excellent properties in tissue engineering.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cell-laden microfibers for bottom-up tissue engineering.
Hiroaki Onoe,Shoji Takeuchi +1 more
TL;DR: ClMs for in vitro 3D tissue construction, in vitro pseudo tissue models for drug testing and in vivo implantation are summarized and current challenges regarding CLM technologies are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Preparation of interconnected highly porous polymeric structures by a replication and freeze‐drying process
TL;DR: Three-dimensional degradable porous polymeric structures with high porosities (93-98%) and well-interconnected pore networks have been prepared by freeze-drying polymer solutions in the presence of a leachable template followed by leaching of the template to facilitate higher interconnectivity of the scaffolds.
