New genetic signals for lung function highlight pathways and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease associations across multiple ancestries

Nick Shrine, +115 more
- 25 Feb 2019 -
TL;DR: In this paper, a genome-wide association study in 400,102 individuals of European ancestry was conducted to define 279 lung function signals, 139 of which are new and the combined effect of these variants showed generalizability across smokers and never smokers, and across ancestral groups.
Journal ArticleDOI

Meta-analysis of up to 622,409 individuals identifies 40 novel smoking behaviour associated genetic loci.

A. Mesut Erzurumluoglu, +206 more
- 01 Oct 2020 -
TL;DR: The novel loci will facilitate understanding the genetic aetiology of smoking behaviour and may lead to the identification of potential drug targets for smoking prevention and/or cessation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Exome Chip Meta-analysis Fine Maps Causal Variants and Elucidates the Genetic Architecture of Rare Coding Variants in Smoking and Alcohol Use

David M. Brazel, +185 more
TL;DR: Fine-mapping genome-wide association study loci identifies specific variants contributing to the biological etiology of substance use behavior, including nonsynonymous/loss-of-function coding variants.
