Genetic variants in novel pathways influence blood pressure and cardiovascular disease risk

Georg Ehret, +391 more
- 06 Oct 2011 -
TL;DR: A genetic risk score based on 29 genome-wide significant variants was associated with hypertension, left ventricular wall thickness, stroke and coronary artery disease, but not kidney disease or kidney function, and these findings suggest potential novel therapeutic pathways for cardiovascular disease prevention.
Journal ArticleDOI

Genome-wide association study identifies five loci associated with lung function.

Emmanouela Repapi, +109 more
- 01 Jan 2010 -
TL;DR: Genome-wide association with forced expiratory volume in 1 s (FEV1) and the ratio of FEV1 to forced vital capacity (FVC) in the SpiroMeta consortium offers mechanistic insight into pulmonary function regulation and indicate potential targets for interventions to alleviate respiratory disease.
Journal ArticleDOI

Urban Air Pollution and Lung Cancer in Stockholm

TL;DR: It is indicated that urban air pollution increases lung cancer risk and that vehicle emissions may be particularly important.
Journal ArticleDOI

Interstitial lung disease in Japanese patients with lung cancer: a cohort and nested case-control study.

TL;DR: ILD was relatively common in these Japanese patients with NSCLC during therapy with gefitinib or chemotherapy, being higher in the older, smoking patient with preexisting ILD or poor performance status, mainly in the first 4 weeks.
Journal ArticleDOI

Genome-wide association and large-scale follow up identifies 16 new loci influencing lung function

María Soler Artigas, +192 more
- 01 Nov 2011 -
TL;DR: This article identified new regions showing association with pulmonary function in or near MFAP2, TGFB2, HDAC4, RARB, MECOM (also known as EVI1), SPATA9, ARMC2, NCR3, ZKSCAN3, CDC123, C10orf11, LRP1, CCDC38, MMP15, CFDP1 and KCNE2.
